In honor of the Spring Equinox, Hindus welcome the season by celebrating Holi, or the “Festival of Colours”. Although it’s primarily observed in India and Nepal, it’s also celebrated in Malaysia! Want to know more about Holi? Find out after the jump!
The festival was believed to be means to enjoy spring’s vibrant colours, as well, a send-off to the winter season.
A central event during this festival is a bonfire where participants throw colored powders at each other and joyfully celebrate into the night.
Just last week, Malaysia dipped their toes into the celebratory event – gathering a large crowd of both locals and tourists.
Lucky for us, some of our Malaysian Lomographers caught proof.
Thanks for the awesome photos Malaysia! We hope your Lomography Cameras didn’t get too messy.
If you didn’t make it this year, be sure to catch it next year as it’s one of the many unique festivals in the world.
