The best thing about Rio de Janeiro is the amazing views. So what camera better to take with you than the Spinner and capture all that beauty in 360°?
Río de Janeiro is the perfect holiday destination for those who love to mix city surroundings with nature walks. All its beauty makes it a great place for Lomographers to go wild. Getting ready for a trip means preparing your camera gear. But it also means making difficult choices when deciding which cameras to take and which to leave behind. Let me show you why the Spinner is the perfect companion for a visit to Rio!
If there is one thing I absolutely love about Rio de Janeiro, it is the overwhelming geography in which the city is implanted. On top of that, it also has the perfect places to truly admire the immensity of these gorgeous natural surroundings.
The most famous landmark is without a doubt Corcovado Mountain with the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer. From atop this mountain you can enjoy marvelous views over most of the city. When my friend zeva came to visit, the skies were very clouded, but even then the spinner still performed perfectly and gave us this great shot above the clouds.
Another amazing place is Sugerloaf Mountain, whose name describes the famous mountain rising out of the sea. The summit can be reached by cable car, with a stop half-way on Morro da Urca. The incredible views you have from Sugerloaf mountain can only be caught in all its beauty with… the Spinner!
Basically, all attractions in Rio de Janeiro are perfect to be captured in 360°. And Lomography’s Spinner is the perfect tool to shoot this grand scenery and immense beaches!
This is what you call a perfect combination. And we’re not even talking about just the wonderful combination of the surreal and the beautiful in photographer couple Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison’s work. See more of their photos after the jump.

Now, how can you take your analogue light paintings from the ordinary to the outstanding? After the carriage came the car, so we definitely need some spacy inventions to follow the old school light pen. So here it is, our new best friend: The Pixelstick!

The story between the Spinner 360 and I goes way back to the year 2010, when Lomography decided to send me a beta model of the Spinner 360 to test. It was a complete surprise! I thought, "What the hell is that?" as I first took this camera out of the package. Then, when my little brother grabbed it from me and pulled the cord, it buzzed and turned 360°! We all had the same expression: "Whoa..."
