Love the Imperfections with LomoKino LomoAmigo Claudi1007

1

Some people hate imperfection and just look for smooth and lovely perfection. But hey, where's the thrill in that?

No thrill, I suppose. And imperfection is what claudi1007 found in our glorious analogue movie maker, the LomoKino. The cranking, the grain, the dirt on your film — all of those are just beautiful! Awesome, right? And she even used it for school!

Read more about this week’s LomoKino LomoAmigo from Germany and be fascinated by her LomoKino enecounters! Enjoy! :)

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

Hey I’m Claudi from Germany and I am a design student. In my study, I make graphic design but also photography and video producing. In my freetime I like to play with my cute little dog. She is really quirky and a nice photography model for me. At our walks, I like to take photos of landscapes — the nature. If I see the same day by day, it fascinates me every day of a new.

Love these Lomographs by Claudia!

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Dreamy – lovely – mysterious – fun – action!

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

Sadly I didn’t shoot so much films with the LomoKino in my freetime until today (but I will change it the next time.) But I shot a lot of rolls for my study project – a booktrailer. I chose the LomoKino for this project because of the imperfect look. In black and white, the film looks so dirty and mysterious – this was the perfect look for the film. I think the movies are like pictures of another world. And I really like the imperfect pictures. So I let all the flaws like scratches and grime on the negatives when I scan them.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

I liked the funny films of the LomoKino since the camera was launched in the Lomography website. For my project I wanted to make an analogue film and the LomoKino was perfect. So I had a perfect reason to buy a new camera! ;)

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

As I have presented my finished movie, I picked up the LomoKino and a lot of students asked me what it is and how it works. Tthey were fascinated that I made my movie with this analogue jewel. I am very proud of my camera.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

I wish I could go with Salvador Dali in his really awesome surreal paintings. I like to shoot the different clocks and the mysterious animals.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

I like that movie because of the cool photo-shy cat and the old imperfect look.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

My future plan is to shoot funny films with the LomoKino after this dark movie. I want to pick it up for a festival this summer and I want to make a happy festival movie in color. Oh, I can’t wait!

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

Shoot everything you love in your life! Your pet, your favourite place, the ocean, the sun! Shoot shoot shoot.

Do you have something to say about your LomoKino experience? Then drop me a line at mayee.gonzales@lomography.com and you might be our next LomoKino LomoAmigo!

Enter a new analogue dimension with the LomoKino. Lomography’s own 35mm analogue movie camera allows you to capture action and immortalize your story on film! LomoAmigos: The Ting Tings Go Analogue!

The Ting Tings are a musical duo from Manchester who have more pop hits than you can shake a stick at. They are most famous for their 2008 hit "That's Not My Name" which got even the stiffest of people shaking in their seats. The Ting Tings are back with a brand new album called Super Critical. They are big film fanatics (check out their website for proof) so we gave them a Sprocket Rocket Camera and a bunch of film to document their life in sunny IBIZA.

Imperfection Is In Everything We Do: A Talk With Adriano Sodré

Just as we love the grainy sound of a vinyl record playing our latest jazz favorites, we choose analog photography for its natural imperfections that remind us so wondrously of our own reality. Its shortcomings are what make an analog photograph so appealing. We talked to Adriano Guimarães Sodré, a 26-year-old cinematographer, DJ, and photographer who carefully composes pictures that capture a solitary moment in its most natural beauty.
