Five Solid Years With the LC-A+ Russian Lens

14

This story goes way back to 2008, I was just a one year old Lomographer longing for a LC-A+. Those good old days really made me and inspired me to buy a Lomo LC-A+ because at that time there were so so many Lomographers who shot amazing photos from it. This review is about my personal relationship with one camera that changed not only myself, but also my life entirely. Here's a story about my five solid years with the mighty-ultimate-wonderful-reliable-compact camera, Lomo LC-A+ Russian Lens!

To be honest, I got my LC-A+ Russian Lens. by spending all my piggies in 2008. I’m officially in a relationship with a girl. Until now we’re still together. I’m so grateful for that and more of that story later but here’s the best part, because 2 weeks after my official relationship with my girl, the dream camera that I’ve been waiting for arrived at my home. I remember that I was with my girl at her home, then there’s was a phone call from my house, “Adi, there’s a package from DHL!”. I knew that was my Lomo LC-A+! I went running and rushed to my home. When I got back home, I ran upstairs and opened the package! Oh my god there’s that package, that box, that camera, and it was a magical feeling until now, I remember every moment of it!

As we all know that the LOMO LC-A+ is a camera for everyone who loves snapshots! Yes, documenting every detail of your everyday life, shooting your family, shooting your lover, shooting your pets, and all that brilliant stuff! For me this camera is like my own eyes which I want to record and capture every moment in front of my eyes, it could be a dull moment or maybe a great unforgettable moment, I will shoot it anyway, any day and every day.

I just can’t really express my feelings toward this camera into words, so just let the photos speak for itself. Just for this review and this story.

Beside that, this camera is just so perfect for doubles! Say you want to do doubles with yourself just MX it but I prefer to roll back the film to the start and shoot again and again. Doubles is fun with yourself, but the best is film swap and this camera really support this fun Lomographic activity because there’s the Auto Exposure feature, so brilliant! All you have to do is shoot everything around you, and don’t forget to change the ISO setting to prevent overexposure! Once you finish your roll, be merry and pass it to your dear friend for a film swap. Happiness is simple right?

Take your camera everywhere you go! I really always remember this rule and I take this camera everywhere I go including taking it to my travels. This camera never misses a trip, I always bring it with me. Maybe I left the Horizon or Holga at home but this camera I must carry it, I don’t know the reason but there’s something about this camera. You’re probably reading this article and have your own reason and answer. Lomo LC-A+ Russian Lens is your perfect travelling buddy especially for a solo traveler like me.

Why Russian Lens? I chose it to remind me that this camera is from old Russia mixed with the modern age. I love the idea of two different eras meeting together, the original lens from Russia and the modern body of the brand new Lomo LC-A+ which results in so many possibilities! You can use flash, you can do MX easy as ABC, set the ISO, and those amazing features! . I just love this camera so much and there’s a special space in my heart for this camera. On this occasion too I will thank my Lomo LC-A+ Russian Lens for accompanying me for five solid years, we went through bad times and good times, traveled for miles together, shooting for countless hours. This review I made is based on my five years using this wonderful camera, what can I say more?

Long live the Lomo LC-A+ Russian Lens!

Testing a Yashica TLR Camera After 55 Years in Storage

Though I am not a professional, photography is in my genes. My father was a photographer and technician in the Air Force and accumulated a number of cameras during his life. This is a story about one of those cameras, a Yashica 635 TLR. I brought the camera—after being in storage for about 55 years—back to life with a roll of Portra 160 during the golden hour at Bellevue Botanical Gardens in Washington.

Long Exposures Around Europe with the Minitar-1 Art Lens

One of the things I like the most about the Minitar-1 Art lens is how sharp the focus can be when you shoot with a small aperture. So if you are one of those that like to shoot at night, get a tripod, add this to a late dark winter afternoon, and you will end up with a bunch of beautiful long exposures. This is what I did on my last trip to Europe.
