A Sneak Peek at the Forthcoming Lomoscanner App!

7

Thanks to the fantastic support we had over at Kickstarter, the Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner has been transformed from a dream into an analogue reality! With the Scanner now available in the Lomography Online Shop and Gallery Stores and the free Lomoscanner App to be released very soon, we thought we'd show you a sneak peak at just how easy it is to scan your photos using the App!

Step One:

The first step is to take your Smartphone Film Scanner and decide how many of the stackers you need for your phone. For some it will be 3 but in the case of the iPhone, we recommend using 2 for the best resolution outcome. Now simply feed your chosen negative into the Scanner, using the in-built winding mechanism to frame the first photo you want to scan.

Step 2

Now all you have to do is switch on the light box and place your smartphone on top of the Scanner , being sure to line up your phone’s camera with the small hole. Select the free Lomoscanner App (available for iPhone and Android) on your phone, choose the format you wish to scan and you should now be able to see the image on the screen. Now you should be able to align the phone easily. When the phone’s in position, close the wings of the Scanner to hold your phone in place.

Step 3

Now the fun starts. You’re ready to begin scanning! If you’re scanning negatives what you will see is a negative image on the screen. Using the App Menu, choose which type of film you are scanning and it will automatically correct the colors of your image. Now use the crop feature to get your photo to the right size and you’re good to go! With the image saved and ready to share with the world, you can simply wind on your negative to the next picture and repeat the process.

So there you go; with scanning reduced down to three incredibly easy steps, the Smartphone Scanner is the most convenient and fastest way to scan those 35mm pictures. The Lomoscanner App will be released very soon with free versions for both iPhone and Android smartphones. The Scanner is also portable meaning you can scan those negatives even when you’re away from home. Just don’t forget to share the results with us and the Lomography Community!

And yet again you informed the lomo community before the kickstarter backers. People have been begging for info about the app, maybe you should send out on update?

Other than that, app looks really good! Very happy to see there is a separate xpro setting :-). This has been causing me trouble to get it properly scanned! Maybe a redscale mode in the future?
