My Analogue Days: The Weekend Routine

1

Who doesn’t love the weekend? Everybody loves the weekend! Some people love to party during weekends, some love to just stay at home and rest, but some, like me, make the best out of the two free days to go out and shoot.

I always envy those people who can shoot whenever they want to at any given day of the year, and I think only few people can do that; if you are one, then you are very lucky. Common people like me who need to go to work on weekdays and spend 8-9 hours in front of the computer always feel that we are “wasting sunshine” whenever a beautiful sunny day is waiting to be captured. With that, I made it a habit that during my only free days (Saturdays and Sundays) I will go out and be as analogue as I can be.

Whether it’s cloudy, sunny, or even rainy, it has been a routine for me to fill my weekends of analogue doings, being a typical weekday office guy, Saturdays and Sundays are my only chance to have a solo photo walk or join group photo activities. I always make sure to finish at least finish a roll of film during that 2-day span.

Saturdays are also the only time that I get to develop my black and white films, or for color negatives and slide films, to bring them to a photo lab.

I also make sure that I schedule my photo shoots with models always during weekends. My models have regular jobs too, making them also available only on weekends.

I think these kind of complications makes shooting for me, for us, more special. Because I believe that "special” is something that doesn’t happen every day, it happens during weekends, at least for me.

I try to bring one camera at work too, but usually I'm drained by the time I get out of the office.
