51

A Lomographer's best friend is light and a good source of light at that one. No light? Then no Lomograph. Simple to analyze but can definitely make us go bonkers!

Photo Stories: Away With You by lomomowlem

It is clear from the wild variety of photos in the website that Lomographers will do just about anything to get a good shot. Cinematographer Michal Dabal on the Petzval Lens

Here’s what happens before we interview a photographer. We gush about the work though we have yet to find out the cameras and processes behind the brilliant composition or the light architecture. And even when they haven’t used a Lomo camera, we feature them anyway. But every once in a while comes a pro who uses one of our premium lenses at work and our fun cameras off-duty. This makes us mighty glad, more so when their images are good and worth sharing. We count cinematographer Michal Dabal's work among them.

Behind the Picture: Portrait Parle Class, France (c. 1910-1915)

Without a truly established means of identifying criminals, one can only imagine the difficulties that law enforcers prior to the late 19th century had faced. True, the invention of photography had been of great help in documenting rogues photographically, but then police had yet to figure out a way to organize so that retrieving photos and pertinent information would take less time.

Creating a movie, no matter how short it is, requires a certain amount of discipline. For it to be coherent, one must keep his focus throughout the entire process - from shooting the scenes to editing the clips. There is nothing better than a photo shot at the perfect moment. Henri Cartier-Bresson's principle on "The Decisive Moment" is a principle that we should still follow to this day. A perfectly-timed photo creates impact, whether it's one of a friend jumping into the pool or a couple emerging from the ceremony on their wedding day. For this rumble, we want to see that breathtaking moment, shot at the perfect time. And you showed us what it's like to be on time.

12 Months, 12 Projects: March Of Caffenol

My list of resolutions for 2015 consists of 12 projects, one for every month. March was for caffenol. You have probably heard of the amazing fact that you can develop black and white photos with coffee, sodium, and vitamin C. I had tried this before but with less than stellar results. Somehow, there's always something going wrong. Time to devote a few rolls to caffenol to finally get the hang of it.

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.
