My Analogue Days: I Just Can't Get Enough

I just can't separate my analogue passion with my daily life. Actually, my daily life is so full of analogue activities right now. Read about my daily life after the jump!

I started doing Lomography 1.5 years ago, and my life has changed completely ever since. I remember about 2 years ago, my daily activities just involved going to campus, playing basketball until it got dark, turning my laptop on to play a football game called Football Manager, or sometimes watch the TV series such as “How I Met Your Mother.” I had no idea that a camera can change my daily life.

After I bought my first Lomographic camera, the La Sardina, I was so excited that I must bring it everywhere I go. I got addicted to Lomography. Now, my daily activities basically involve:

1. Bringing 3 cameras everywhere I go is a must.

May be some of you are surprised, and may be some of you think it is not a big deal. Well for me, it’s a must. First, I must bring my LC-Wide. It is so versatile in every situation that I’m about to face. Sometimes i bring my LC-Wide just to do the film swap.

The second type of the camera is my SLR, which is Canon TX. I got this camera from my dad, or may be from my grandfather, I don’t really remember. An SLR makes you able to shoot a high quality pictures that in case you may need before you know it. Also, I’m still learning to know this camera well. To bring my Canon TX is a must.

The third camera type is the plastic cameras! Plastic cameras are the reason why I fell in love the first time with Lomography. I usually love to bring my Diana Baby 110 because it’s so light, but the Sprocket Rocket has taken my attention recently.

2. Always make time to do a LomoWalk once in a week.

My goal is to live my passion. If i’m not doing a LomoWalk just once in a week, my days feel like they’re full of emptiness. I usually go for a LomoWalk every Tuesday or Friday morning with my girl or sometimes with adi_totp . But I also enjoy doing solo photowalks in my city.

3. Scanning films by myself.

I love scanning films! When I have spare time, I go to my friend’s photography shop/lab and help him scan some orders. I usually scan my own photos in his shop as well. Thank you ping-junior!

So, that’s it, my analogue days! I really want to hear your analogue days as well! I think it’s interesting to know how every person lives their passion. Looking forward to reading those! Have a nice day!

PS : I still watch “How I Met Your Mother”!

I'm Nick Page, a graphic designer based in the UK. After 20 years of working in advertising, I returned to film photography five years ago and found that the analogue life was just what I needed to get away from the "pixel perfect" images I deal with every day in my job.

My Day in Analogue: Lazy Summer Days at Home

Every summer, my soul screams for a lazy, hot day back at my parents' home, for some good food, relaxation, and catching up with childhood friends. This year is no different, so I went back down to my small hometown in the very northeast of Belgium to enjoy a perfect laid back day doing nothing and everything. And of course, I brought my analogue cameras along to eternalize all of these small but grand moments in life.

Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 120: Perfect for Endless Multiple Exposures!

About two years ago or so, I purchased the Lomography Redscale XR 50-200. I saved just one roll of this film and waited for the right moment to shoot with it. In April this year, I just wasn't able to take it anymore! I loaded this film into my Lubitel 166+, which I realized I hadn't used for maybe about six months. One idea came to mind: taking crazy multiple exposures!

Testing a Yashica TLR Camera After 55 Years in Storage

Though I am not a professional, photography is in my genes. My father was a photographer and technician in the Air Force and accumulated a number of cameras during his life. This is a story about one of those cameras, a Yashica 635 TLR. I brought the camera—after being in storage for about 55 years—back to life with a roll of Portra 160 during the golden hour at Bellevue Botanical Gardens in Washington.

Fresh from the Lab: Silvia Precisa

Recently, I used my trusty Fuji Silvi. It may not be my all-time favorite camera, but I just wanted to use it because I kind of missed shooting with it. So I decided to look through my film stash to see what I could use with the Fuji Silvi. After much consideration, I ended up picking the old Agfa CT Precisa ISO 100 to get that classic blue tone. Silvia Precisa!

Pushing Boundaries: So I Heard You Like Multiple Exposures

My name is Amber Valentine and I have a confession to make: I’m not really a photographer. I have a website full of photographs, a bookshelf full of cameras, film waiting to be developed, and a wall full of framed pictures I’ve taken. Even so, I don’t really consider myself a photographer per se. I think that Lomography is more about the experimentation and the fun of film than it is about the photography, and that experimentation is part of the reason I have embraced Lomography so.

Festival Season: Lots of Variety at the North Sea Jazz

My brother had a photo exhibition last year at the North Sea Jazz Festival and got two tickets. So just like the old days with our father, we went to the Ahoy Rotterdam for an evening of jazz and other music. I was armed with an analogue SLR camera, telephoto lens, and sensitive film!
