Analogue Day Activity: Do origami.

Making stuff with paper is unmistakably as analogue as one can get, and when it comes to paper art, origami remains one of the most popular! It can be a great way to de-stress from your hectic lifestyle, so grab some paper and start folding!

Origami, the age-old art of paper folding that began in Japan during the 17th century, remains one of the most popular forms of paper art to this day. We can see why: it’s therapeutic, interesting, and offers a fair amount of challenge in both physical and mental sense. It’s a wonder how a single, flat sheet of paper can be transformed into a work of art in an entirely different form, don’t you think?

So, if Monday is wearing you down, take a break, grab a sheet of scratch paper from your desk, and start folding! But, just because you’ll be doing nothing but fold the paper doesn’t mean it will be easy! Take a look at this list of origami projects to find out what you can make out of those paper-folding sessions.

For starters, you can make the quintessential origami project: the beautiful and elegant paper crane:

Then, you can move on to making more complicated ones:

With enough practice, you can move on to using colored paper and patterned origami sheets to decorate your room and office desk!

Won Park
Anja Markiewicz

Through collage making, Eugenia Loli builds such worlds that invite the audience not only to marvel at them but also, and most importantly, to see through the hodgepodge of images to find meaning and formulate interpretations.
