Lomography loves frogs, clogs, dogs, and logs, but most importantly, we love blogs. We love them so much that we took some time to find our favourite blogs to present to you.
We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite lifestyle and photography blogs for you to check out and have linked to them below. When you’re out cruising the interwebs, you can also see which blogs are our favourites by looking out for the above nifty badge.
How did we decide on this list?
That’s an excellent question. A number of factors went into deciding our top blogs. There was a focus on UK blogs, for the most part. We looked at style, content, social following and Alexa page rank as a start; then we asked each blog to submit a statement about what photography means to them and their blog. We had a little caucus and whittled hundreds of blogs down to 25 finalists. From there, we painstakingly selected the 5 winners. It was difficult because they really are all brilliant.
So, who are the winners already?!
Look out for posts featuring these fantastic blogs in the near future. Here are our 5 winners for the first Lomographic Society “Lomo Love” Blog Awards:

“I’ve always loved film photography, this goes back to when I got my first camera which was a toy camera ordered from a chewing gum wrapper back in the 70’s. My small collection of film cameras which is now just under 40 cameras, allows me to maintain a solid connection with the mechanical part of my brain – the part of my brain and heart that wants to build, make, or create something. I also own digital cameras but I don’t get the same joy from using them as I do when I shoot film. The vibration of the gears, the clanking of the cogs, and the twang of the springs as I guide maneuver and caress my film cameras into giving me the carefully crafted results that I want.”
“Having grown up using my Dad’s film slr and having my own darkroom in high school it was only natural that when I started my blog a big part of what I share would be photography. I am often sharing interviews with photographers, editorials and inspiring photos. I also share my own film photo diaries that I shoot with my growing collection of film cameras. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of my favourite photographers through my blog, styling and directing shoots.”
“Photography is what The Phoblographer was created to feature and cultivate. It isn’t about looking at charts—it’s about love. Photography lets us all fall in love just a little bit every day and appreciate the world around us through split second captures. Think about it: the trial and error that we all sometimes put into getting the images we want followed by the important lessons we learn to improve ourselves is so very essential to our personal growth. It’s important that people nurture their love affair and keep it alive through inspiration and hope.”
“Photography Blog started life in January 2003 with the sole purpose of being a weblog about photography. Photography Blog is run by professional photographer Mark Goldstein and the site has several key aims. It reviews the latest digital cameras, printers, scanners, software and books. It reports all the photography news, both film and digital, both global and UK-based. It offers opinion on that news, and allows you to contribute your own comments and opinion. Finally, it provides a friendly meeting place for photographers of all abilities.”
What Katie Does
“Photography is completely essential to my blog. Whenever I travel, do something new in London, or just feel like documenting my day to day life, a camera (or two) is always by my side. It’s since I started taking photography a bit more seriously that my blog really picked up, and I love the feedback and comments I get on my photos. Even the mistakes – when a film over-exposes or doesn’t advance properly – go up on my blog! Every year I do a month-by-month photo roundup of my year and they are wonderful to look back on.”
