Lomo LC-A+ Russian Lens: Halfway to Happiness!

6

It´s said that a lot of money will make us all very happy. It´s also said that money isn't all in life, and it´s love that will give us full happiness. Well, I don´t know about that, but I do know that I´m on my halfway to happiness because I have my LC-A+ RL !

Being a Lomographer or in love with Lomography is like playing a computer game. You start on the easy way, in the simple levels, and then at some point you will achieve the necessary equipment that will make the Lomographs of your dreams come to life.
I don´t know if that happened with every Lomographer, but it surely did with me. It´s hard to fill up our life, especially our LomoLife. We must be ambitious and try to get on the upper level. I try do do that and I think I’ve managed it when I bought my Lomo LC-A+ Russian Lens.

I remember that summer day 2 years ago. I was on vacation at home because my girlfriend had no vacation. But then my lover arrived, right after lunch, she rang the bell and I just couldn’t believe it. In front of me, the mailman was giving me the most important Lomographic thing for me at that moment. I signed the mail paper pretty fast, and run to my home talking pretty loud, alone, and happy. My lover LC-A+ RL had arrived home!

Summer time, day was shining, it was hot in the air. I took my LC-A+ RL out of the box. I had to touch it, smell it, feel it. It was time to experiment with that baby of mine. I loaded her with Fuji Sensia 100 and went my way to the beach. It was our first date.

Well, I was so excited because all the great Lomographs I was always seeing were taken with the LC-A+. So, at that point I really didn’t know about the real importance of the LC-A+ RL for a Lomographer.
So, she became my baby and I started to give her all my attention, and I still do! I try to take other cameras outside with me but my LC-A+ RL is a lot jealous.

This is a compact camera which is not too light as much of Lomograpy’s other cameras, but she isn’t too heavy though. And this is very important. It means that she isn’t too fragile, and that she is in the range of weight to use it easily with one hand. We all need to take some quick photos, in some awkward angles, and this is the first point to my Russian Lens baby.

The focusing is very easy. Although you have to have an idea about the distance between you and the object you want to shoot, she is a cool girl and the button on one side of the lens is very practical. In those stressed moments when you have to take a fast, fast decision of shooting something, you´ll thank that focusing mechanism. Get some experience with at least 3 films and you´re up to use that button correctly without looking at it.

The light meter! You have a small compact camera, not too light, but light enough to be handled easily, and that comes with a light meter, which is awesome. Trust it, it is a great piece of meter! Sometimes I fool him, but only for it´s own good.

And for last, this baby brings me some colorful, powerful images and hues: It´s the Russian Lens!
I searched for a while about the difference between the Russian Lens and the Chinese Lens, and I learned that the Russian Lens can give you a bit more color explosion. Well, I don´t know if this is really true but I decided to buy a RL anyway. And that´s because it´s a more real Lomo, having a lens made in Mother Russia.

The best camera to take some Lomographs, the better to put you Halfway to Happiness!

I don't know many bands from Russia but one that I've been admiring for years is Motorama from Rostov-on-Don. Reason enough to let them become our latest LomoAmigos! Enjoy the interview with singer Vlad and check out their B&W photos, taken with a La Sardina Splendour.

If you want to know the heart of a person, peek inside his/her wardrobe! And no, nobody famous said that; I only just made it up. But really, don't you think it's true? After all, the way we dress screams our personality; at least for most of us. And that is why, as soon as I land on a new city, one of the things I absolutely must do is find the local boutiques. Sure, I love the fancy chain boutiques as much as the next person, but there's just something else about a local clothing store. It's unique!

Top 5 Analog Tricks For An Aged Photo Look

Film has soul, that second layer of grain and haze. It is a time capsule if we're sentimental, a happy pill if nostalgic. But what if we exaggerate this time-worn look? Imperfection becomes a creative element.
