Shoot the Stars with Diana+

14

Diana+ as an astronomy tool.

Mount your Diana F+ on a tripod, aim the camera at the sky, open the aperture and wait for 20-30 minutes. We were called for a supper, so I’ve pulled off the shutter blocker (or how to call that “L”-formed piece of plastic) and moved to the next frame. The stars trajectory can be certainly seen :)

I did this on a camping trip on pinhole mode, but even after what seemed like an hour nothing came out. There was absolutely no ambient light so I wasn't too surprised. Cool shot. Makes me wanna give it another go.

you just need to make sure that there is no light around you and it's even better if you point away from the city

thanks to everyone :) Loved to see the comments!

@nicholas_noir: thanks, will try, though it was 400 ISO and I've chosen the "cloudy" aperture this time

@workerbee: yep, it was far away from the city. From any city, in fact :) It was in Sinai (Egypt) just between a hut and a sea :)))

@lomosexual_manboy: pinhole aperture is too small to capture the starlight on ISOs like that. I recommend to go for the wider aperture :)

I've been wanting to do this for a while now. Hopefully this Spring. Or when the Perseids meteor showers are on in August.

The European Dream - Selfies from Oranienplatz: Exhibition in Berlin
