Good Times and Even Better Times

At Lomography Store Manchester! Although we were only here for just over a year, we managed to squeeze in some truly epic parties, fantastic workshops and Lomographic highlights, here's some of the best bits from Manchester's Analogue universe!

Fresh-faced!

Short and sweet, that’s how we’ll all remember our time at Lomography Gallery Store Manchester! That doesn’t mean we didn’t have time to throw some awesome parties though, starting with our opening party on 16th December 2011, who was here at the very beginning?

The Grand Opening Party

We also had some great launch parties that included, in no particular order: live animals, sailor tattoos, live bands, cakes, beach balls and much more! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank every person that came, drank and generally partied the hell out of the store with us. We enjoyed every single party and it was all thanks to you guys!

Parties, parties and more parties!

We’d also like to thank our amazing Street Team, for getting out there and spreading the word of Lomography, so here’s to you JennySparkle, Kneehigh85 and Fletchinski84! If they papped you out and about in Manchester during the summer of 2012 then head over to Facebook and tag yourself! Here’s a few to start with…

Street Team MCR!

One of the most fun parts of being here in Manchester was hosting our regular workshops and teaching all you lovely Northerners all about the world of Lomography, from beginners to advanced snappers, everyone was catered for and we used as many cameras as possible to capture Manchester from as many perspectives as possible!

Workshops: the best way to learn the art of Lomography!

Being a Lomographer also has its perks, we got to go to some cool events to snap people, places and the madness of Manchester on film, our personal highlight was the Manchester Zombie Walk to raise money for Big Issue North, thousands of zombies took to the streets of Manchester to stumble their way through the city centre. We also went to the opening of the Football museum at its new home in the URBIS. There were parades galore with Pride and Manchester Day being celebrated just down the road and even a few wild nights out, which we only remember from the photos!

Not just a job but a way of life!

Don’t forget, our two Lomography stores down in London, Soho and East, will still be there to cater for all your Lomographic needs and you can send your film to them via the LomoLab Online Development Service by clicking here.

So from David Tester, David Powell, Natalie Ladden, Mustafa Raee, Victoria Schofield and Tom Ambrose, we want to thank you for an amazing time here in Manchester, here’s to many more years of analogue love and remember: THE FUTURE IS ANALOGUE!

Sprocket Rocket: First Love Never Dies

The Lomography Sprocket Rocket - my first analogue camera ever - and I have had some troubled times behind us. We have been involved in a stormy love-hate relationship for several years. But in the end, we luckily managed to get over ourselves and overcome our problems. Now he's my old time favorite. Old love never rusts, that is.

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.

The Magic Yet To Come: Part 1

Here’s a random and rather mysterious tale for you folks. Just the other day, I was at a local bar with a few friends. It was much like any other evening; we were sipping a couple of cocktails, recounting our adventures, falling over ourselves with laughter and half-drunkenly meditating on the meaning of life (a scientist once told me it’s 42 by the way). But then something truly strange happened. Read on to hear my story and please make a comment with your guess at the end!

Valeriie Liin and The Cameras She Brings

There are things that artist Valeriie Liin can't leave the house without: her earphones, two notebooks, keys to her home in Taiwan, and a little color palette for painting. It's not always that she can paint, though, so for those times she turns to her cameras.

The World According to Herr Willie: Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

Singapore, like Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, is a likely stopover when you fly far. The city is a tiny urbanized hub but it's very favorable if you know some high-spirited locals. I was lucky to hook up with king kimbo (@hakimbo), who showed me around. He took my lame limbs to the Gardens by the Bay, an amazing place which was visually striking. I was hugging some artificial trees there when I found a baby—a very big baby.
