Shooting Architecture Without Slide Films

Maybe some Lomographer thinks that slide film has great color saturation results. Well, without slide film, you can still make great pictures!!

When you don’t have much money for buying slide films, you have to be creative, guys! Try D.I.Y redscale film or B&W film. I realized when I’m in love with architecture photography, slide film isn’t everything. It is about angle, composition and light. Architecture is all around us right?! Like houses, churches, mosques, temples, bridges, etc.
You can play with lines, colors, and patterns with architecture. The greatest thing about architecture, they don’t move like humans (except there’s an earthquake :p) and they won’t be fleeing with their face haha..

Learn the basics of photography and trust your mind! It’s ok if you are not shooting with slide film. Snap your photos in the golden hour, and don’t forget to see where’s the light come from! so you won’t get a dark photo

Don’t worry if the sky is cloudy, you can still shoot with redscale

Try B&W film if you shoot a historical building to make a very vintage photo!

Last, try a new and experimental angle

Don’t be afraid without slide films :D

I am a Mad Analogue Scientist: New Experiments with 35mm Films and Chemicals

Unfortunately, it happens sometimes that your resulting pictures are not what you expected - the image doesn't look that good, the colors are bland, and the subject is banal. Indeed, it couldn't be picture of the year! Herein I propose a second chance for your pictures by modifying your 35mm negatives. Just pick up some ideas from here, experiment, and scan your negatives with the Lomography Smartphone Scanner. Anything is possible: burning, scratching, putting on hydrochloric acid, balsamic vinegar, nail polish, bleach, or raspberry juice... use your imagination and write down your new film soup recipe! You can find a sample of the effects in this article.

This film has fine grain, especially when cross-processed in C41. And if you use a Lomo camera, maybe the LC-A or the LC-Wide, the results will be more interesting with strong vignettes in your pictures!

The Ten Golden Rules of Lomography on typographic posters

Every lomographer is aware of the Ten Golden Rules, the very essence of our “Don't Think, Just Shoot” philosophy. This set of guidelines tells us to throw away our inhibitions as photogarphers and have fun while taking pictures. Many of us take these rules by heart, but maybe not all of us take them as seriously as our community member pedrosattin, who has made these rules the focus of his personal project.
