The World Photography Organization has recently announced the shortlist for the Sony World Photography Awards 2013 in the Professional, Open, and Youth categories.
The Sony World Photography Awards is one of the most widely-recognized photography awards ceremony in the world. Launched in 2008, it showcases a wide range of competitions and categories that photographers from all levels and walks of life can join.
This year’s competition saw over 122,000 entries from 170 different countries around the world, and recently, the jury was able to narrow it down to a select few. The winners will be announced by March, and with a closing gala by the end of April.

Elliott Erwitt, famous for his candid and often ironic and absurd black and white photographs of everyday life, was recently named as the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Photography prize at this year's Sony World Photography Awards.

In case you missed it, Lomography has just unveiled the latest member of its Art Lens family: the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens, which boasts of the same optics that the legendary LC-A camera has and brings the classic Lomographic style not only to analog but also to the digital platform.
