Kickstarting the Lomography Film Scanner in Europe! Everything You Need To Know!

If you've been visiting the site recently, you'll know doubt have heard about our latest Kickstarter project: The Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner. We've been overwhelmed by the support and our planning to repay it with tons of great rewards for all those who help us make this project a reality! Live in Europe and want a heads up on Kickstarter and what's we're doing over there right now? Then read on!

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. Kickstarter is full of ambitious, innovative, and imaginative projects that are brought to life through the direct support of others.

We chose Kickstarter to present our new Lomography Film Scanner project for a few reasons. Not only does it help us to fund the project and make it a reality, but it allows us to involve you and the entire Lomography community in the process, listen and respond to your feedback and offer you great rewards in return for your support.

How Can I Get Involved?

You too can pledge, help us develop this project and grab yourself an amazing reward package, which differs depending on how much you are able to pledge. Just head over to our Kickstarter page and check out the different rewards on offer. When you’ve decided just click on “Back this Project”,

What Kind of Rewards Are There?

Rewards are the ‘extras’ we offer you in return for making your pledge. Many of our rewards on Kickstarter allow you to get a Lomography camera and the Scanner as a combination for a great price. We also have bigger rewards available such as trips to visit Lomography HQ in Vienna!

I See The Prices Are All in $US. Does this Mean I Need to Live in the US to Pledge?

No, anyone in the world can pledge. All you need is a credit card!

I Live in Europe. Why is the Shipping Cost Higher?

The shipping costs vary depending on where you are in the world and which reward you pick. The amount you should add to cover shipping is shown in the reward information.

Unfortunately, in the EU we also need to cover VAT. We do not have to cover this for customers based in the USA or Rest of World regions. So the Shipping and Tax is calculated higher for EU for this reason. But with the rewards being offered, you’ll still be making a great saving and the chance to get the Scanner with some truly fantastic cameras at very special prices!

What is Classed in Europe for Shipping?

Europe is classed as the following countries: Austria, Benelux Countires (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg), Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Färöer, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and UK.

When will the Scanners be Available for Shipping?

The first quantities of the Scanner will be shipped in March. Due to the awesome demand of the Scanner so far, the new rewards we have been adding on the Kickstarter page now have an April estimated shipping date. You can see the shipping date of each reward in the details about it on the Kickstarter page.

So here’s what we’ve been working on: an all new lomography.com

For the last year we've been working on the next version of Lomography. We based our work on the feedback you’ve given us over the years and we wanted to share it as early as possible with you and can’t wait to hear what you think. Just one warning first: it is still in development and things can break. All the photos, comments, likes, homes and everything else were transferred as of October 16th, 2014. So anything you do on next.lomography.com won't be reflected on www.lomography.com and vice versa. Once we are done with testing, everything you did here will be deleted again. So this is a big playground for you to explore.

I don't know many bands from Russia but one that I've been admiring for years is Motorama from Rostov-on-Don. With catchy tunes and adorable videos, they took my heart by storm and that of fans from all over the world. Because of their Russian origin, Motorama is of course familiar with Lomo products. Reason enough to let them become our latest LomoAmigos! Enjoy the interview with singer Vlad and check out their B&W photos, taken with a La Sardina Splendour.

Since Lomography launched its new Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens project on Kickstarter, we've been seeing a variety of pictures, from images of snow monkeys in Japan to behind-the-scenes shots of New York Fashion Week. Many of these pictures were shot with digital cameras, but we've yet to see how the Petzval 58 performs on an analog Canon Rebel camera loaded with black and white, and x-pro film.
