He is starting it slow but this week's newcomer of the week sure is working on it through a terrific way!
Coming from Utah, this Lomographer sure has got some special analogue skills when it comes to taking Lomographs. Currently toying with one analogue camera, Russell sure will soon show us more! For now, you can read our interview with him.
Name: Russell Watkins
Location: Utah, United States
Current film cameras: Minolta Maxxum XTsi
How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?
My Friend Tim Thompson — we both ran into each other at a thrift shop looking at analogue cameras and he convinced me to join.
Is there anyone in the Lomographic Society you look up to? If yes, who is him/her and why?
As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?
Rule #2: Dawn, day, dusk, night, rain, snow, sleet… and hail? Maybe not hail, but anytime is a good time to shoot Lomo!
In this digital age, why still film?
I think it adds so much more meaning to your photos. It is raw and it is the purest form of photography.
What are you looking forward to in our Community?
To share my photos with people who understand and love analogue!
Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?
Currently I only own one that works, but no doubt I will have more in the future (maybe even a Lomography camera!)
What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?
I find the Fisheye One Woodgrain extremely sexy. Plus I’ve always wanted a Fisheye camera.
Share your current favorite Lomograph (could be yours or a friend’s) and explain why it is your favorite.
You see I was at the gas station when the sky dimmed. I looked up at the heavens and low and behold the thick clouds broke and the rich sunlight poured out. I pointed my film camera at it, not knowing what I was going to get I pushed the trigger and this beauty is what I got. (It’s a good example of Rule #9!)
