Exploring MacRitchier Reservoir, Singapore

2

My colleagues and I love spending time outdoors with nature, and for our latest outing, we chose MacRitchier Reservoir. A few of us have not been there before and we would like to explore one of the quiet places in this city.

.

The MacRitchier Reservoir is Singapore’s oldest reservoir. The reservoir was completed in 1868 by impounding water from an earth embankment, and it’s a great place for morning and evening walks or strolls along the water’s edge.

There are boardwalks skirting the edge of the scenic MacRitchie Reservoir, and walking trails through the forest. The mirror-surfaced reservoir is surrounded by a 12km stretch, and it takes approximately five hours to finish, but we had taken more than five hours to complete the whole walking.

It is a nice place to relax — you can either jog, run, or take a slow walk in the many trails in the park. Before you start your journey, prepare plenty of water to drink, and wear good walking shoes and casual wear.

Although, be aware: you will encounter some wild monkeys on the trail so do not feed, do not disturb, and stay away from them.
