My 2012 in Photos and Memories

When I got my planner for this year, I was stoked to find out that it had extra blank pages at the end of each month. So I made a promise to myself that I would fill those blank pages out when the month is up.

What better way to fill out those pages with photos of memorable events and milestones that had happened to me! Check out my monthly photo collage from January to November!

January
Start of the year. First time to meet a local Lomography group Shutter Revolution and had a photowalk during Chinese New Year! Sadly I haven’t seen them again for the rest of the year because of conflicting work schedules!

February
Valentine’s Day. Memorable dates with my fiancé in redscale!

March
Went to Cebu and Bohol for vacation with workmates! It was a blast! Did a lot of sporty activities.

April
Went out of the country with the whole family! Scoured Hong Kong and brought the kids to Disneyland and Ocean Park. I kept the maps from the trip and included them in the collage.

May
Had our Annual Summer-lympics at work for the kids. Also first time to try out a detergent film wash experiment!

June
Reunion with high school friends. First time in an aquanaut suit! Paranoid as hell with that claustrophobia-inducing underwater helmet!

July
Made a DIY La Sardina replica out of oven bake clay. More work related stuff and getting my U.S. license for Occupational Therapy!

August
Dabbling with black and white developing! More random photos of my nephews and fiancé.

September
More black and white developing just because!

October
My birth month and got the most exciting milestone of my life so far – I got engaged!

November
Random shots around the city. Also went to the province to visit on All Soul’s Day.

Since December’s not yet done, I still haven’t made a photo collage for it. I’m still keeping my cameras ready for exciting things to happen!

Thanks for reading!

    An Afternoon in Tagaytay Highlands

I have good memories of Tagaytay Highlands. There had been times when some of my friends and I would spend the weekend there, playing all sorts of sports and having our bodies healed in the warm and lapping jacuzzi pool. But those were distant memories. I was able to go back to this place, but only for an afternoon, and tried to remember the good old days.

    Finally, My Own Petzval Lens

In April of this year I had the chance to test the Petzval Lens and to write a review on it for the German photography forum Kwerfeldein. The lens excited me from the very beginning, at the time it was introduced on Kickstarter. I was afraid that once I had tested the lens, I would want to have one of my own! Well, that’s what happened; a year later, I finally bought my very own Petzval lens.

    Object of My Affection: Subbuteo

In my early adolescence, I liked to play table football. For my 12th birthday, my parents gifted me with a wonderful Subbuteo table soccer game set that I had wished for many months! This was my favorite toy until I discovered other interesting hobbies, like ham radio and electronics. So after some years, I gave away this game to other kids. I always remembered this game with pleasure and a hint of nostalgia.

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.

My Analogue Bucket List: Faster Than a Speeding Cannonball

The new year is still young, but it seems as if it'll be over quickly. My organizer is already filled with entries until June. 2015 will probably be worse than 2014 when it comes to having time off so I could take some analogue shots. Anyway, there are some photography-related things that I really want to get done. It is probably best to set some goals if I only have very limited time.

This is my experience with the Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 (120), my first medium format film. It's an adventure that started when I got a Lubitel 2, to finally shoot with it. In this article, you'll find detailed information about color schemes, the advantages of shooting in medium format, and the differences between standard redscale films. Here are the results of a day of shooting outside, which I recently got back from the lab.

Spinner 360: Pull the Cord and Let the Magic Happen!

The story between the Spinner 360 and I goes way back to the year 2010, when Lomography decided to send me a beta model of the Spinner 360 to test. It was a complete surprise! I thought, "What the hell is that?" as I first took this camera out of the package. Then, when my little brother grabbed it from me and pulled the cord, it buzzed and turned 360°! We all had the same expression: "Whoa..."
