Holiday LomoAmigo: Walasiteodito

12

His Lomographic story might be just as common but his passion for film photography is one of the most unique we can ever encounter!

He can’t leave home without an analogue camera and he shoots mainly to have fun! Now that’s we call living the analogue life! And now that the holidays are starting to kick-in, let’s see how it would go for Holiday LomoAmigo, Teo!

Location: Marikina City, Philippines

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

I am 22 years old, I finished Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Advertising, and s currently working as a graphic artist in a clothing company named ARTWORK here in the Philippines. Basically I design shirts, posters, and other merchandises. Other than taking analog photos, I love doodling, eating, sleeping, playing the guitar, and I love challenges!

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

I tried shooting film when I was in college since we had a photography class, but it stopped there. Then last February, me and my officemates went to Singapore and we saw the Lomography Gallery Store there. I bought my very first Lomography camera, the Lomography Colorsplash. Then after a few rolls, I fell in love with analog photography and now I have seven cameras. I really can’t remember how I got here in the Community. I just Googled Lomography maybe because of my urge to learn more and to meet other Lomographers.

A few Colorsplash samples from Teo.

What are your plans for the holidays?

Hmmm still haven’t thought about that, usually we just celebrate with relatives and friends. Holiday season is like a mini reunion to us, but whatever the plan may be, I will make sure to capture my holiday plans with lots and lots of analog photos!

Any New Year’s resolutions for 2013?

Maybe to save up some money. I have been spending like hell this year, haha! By that I do not mean I will stop buying films and cameras, I just need to control myself. I’m afraid I have become addicted. Haha!

Teo’s most popular Lomographs!

If you could recommend one movie and one song to everyone, what would they be?

That’s a tough question! We have our own preferences but if i really need to recommend a movie, it would be my favourite movie of course. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an all-time favourite of mine. It’s a story set in a fictional world where a person can choose to erase certain memories by means of an operation. I love everything about that movie, the dialogue, the storyline, and the wonderful cinematography. Michel Gondry’s interpretation of dreams is amazing.

When it comes to one song… Hmmm… A bit hard, too. It would be “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. It’s just a simple song, and it makes me feel good after listening. I think not many people in our country listen to Bright Eyes, but I try to listen to it sometime, it’s a calming song.

What’s your favourite analogue camera to shoot with? Why?

That’s a hard question! I just got my LC-A+ Russia Day and I’m still trying to know it well. Currently, I am so attached to my love, the Lubitel 166B. Shooting with this camera was a challenge to me, focusing was a bit hard, estimating exposure especially indoors was a challenge for me, too. And the minimum 1.4 meter focusing, (I love going near to my subject) but with this one, I can’t be that too near. And also the view finder is mirrored so sometimes I ask myself "Was I the one who took this photo?” Haha! Maybe because of those things. I was challenged to take beautiful photos with it and made it my favourite!

But please remember, whatever camera you will be using for today, you should always make it your favourite!

Amazing shots from his Lubitel.

What’s the next camera you’d like to get your hands on?

The Horizon Perfekt! I have been itching my hands for that camera! I have been saving Piggies for that camera in a while now, writing article one after another, competing on rumbles and Lomojeopardies. I do hope to have that camera in my hands as soon as possible. Haha!

What’s your favourite memory from this year?

Oh I have so many! But if I have to choose, It would be my Singapore Trip. That was my very first experience of going to another country and it was truly amazing. Too bad I wasn’t into Lomography during that time so I have no analogue photos of Singapore. But if not because of my Singapore trip and I haven’t seen the Lomography Gallery Store, I wouldn’t be shooting film. Life seems to be a little boring just thinking about it.

And now for the toughest question – What’s been your favorite photo from the past year? Why?

Yeah the toughest question, I agree! Haha! Maybe this photo :

Credits: walasiteodito

First of all this photo did not get selected and I don’t know why but i think that what made it special. Second is because I have a personal attachment to the person in the photo. And third is because I was surprised in how the photo came out. I expected the photo be a bit underexposed but it came out the way I wanted it to be. I love how the red stands out from all the greens!

Any holiday shout-outs or tips for your fellow Lomographers?

Tips? Hmm i’m not a pro to give tips but I think we all just need to enjoy ourselves in shooting. That’s the most important part of Lomography — having fun! Experiment and do the things that you enjoy doing! And challenge yourself always, to be better (that is if challenging yourself makes you happy) And Happy Holidays, everyone! Enjoy the season and don’t forget to shoot and share those holiday Lomographs!!! Thank you for reading!

Eternal Sunshine is also one of my faves. That dream sequence was perfect! My fave scene was when Jim Carrey's character was in one of his childhood memories. He was hiding under the kitchen table and he came out of it and grabbed a cookie from the table. I loved that detail!

    Congratulations! xo

Transient Living: Armitage & McMillan in Denver, Colorado

If you want to know the heart of a person, peek inside his/her wardrobe! And no, nobody famous said that; I only just made it up. But really, don't you think it's true? After all, the way we dress screams our personality; at least for most of us. And that is why, as soon as I land on a new city, one of the things I absolutely must do is find the local boutiques. Sure, I love the fancy chain boutiques as much as the next person, but there's just something else about a local clothing store. It's unique!
