Georgetown is one of my favorite spots to visit. So many famous celebs have left their mark here like John F Kennedy proposed to Jackie here or that Tori Amos played at various locations around here before she got her big start or even parts of the movie, The Omen, was film here. Even with all of this, the main thing Georgetown is known for is all its shops and restaurants. There’s a huge variety of stores to be found from super common retailers like Urban Outfitters and Banana Republic to really high-end stores that I don’t even know anything about other than you can buy a shirt for like $3000.
So when you need a break from all that shopping, I recommend a great Spanish tapas place called Bodega. It’s a cozy restaurant built inside those really narrow row homes where they squeeze the bar in on one side and the dining tables on the other. It’s so close together that you can even order a drink from the bar tender right from your dining table! Haha! Just kidding!
The only downside about driving to Georgetown is the parking. This area is so popular and busy that you can easily spend more than ½ an hour trying to find a place to park. With all those one way streets, no left turns, and abundance of vehicles, your best bet is to just park in the underground garage beneath the mall building called “The Georgetown Shops,” careful though, it’s pricey! But aside from the bad parking situation, Georgetown is a must see whenever you’re D.C.
