Leeds Farmers' Market, Briggate

1

I recently discovered a lovely market which takes place in central Leeds every alternate Sunday. It comprises local traders, selling produce that you would struggle to find fresher anywhere else.

There is often a lot going on down Briggate which is the main shopping street in Leeds city center, particularly on the weekends. When I visited two weeks ago, the entire length of the street was filled with a farmers market. Well not the entire street, the bottom end was occupied with some drama students doing live street theater and at the very top of the road were some guys dancing and playing instruments (as can be seen in the photos below).

The rest of the road was filled with lovely smells, which I suspect might have been coming from this stand, which is where we later got lunch.

There were some really interesting stalls and all of the traders are local and independent, which I really enjoyed. Some of the stands were pretty unusual – like the vegetarian soap place, a place selling whole chili plants and a place where you could purchase an entire pheasant feathers on and everything!

We had a really good time in the hustle and bustle of the market, bought some lovely items and had a really good time at the market. We bought some excellent homemade items and even had the opportunity to photograph a wedding dress model!

Very nice series! Like the colors in the first one. Are those American Indians? I would stop and sample the Hog Roast and the Turkish Cooking at Musti's Kitchen. I will certainly put this on my list of places to visit when we get to the UK.
