The Liberty Bell

3

So there is a Bell in Philadelphia that has a crack in it. If you like bells or crack this is the place for you. Also met the worlds cutest kid on the way there.

I am not going to pretend I know about history much. I can’t even remember what happened yesterday let alone 250 years ago.

This bell means a lot to Americans. It stands for freedom, justice and all those other words that our American cousins like to use a lot. I don’t like it when Glen Beck uses those words then cries.

Naturally being a sarcastic Limey. The first thing I pointed out upon seeing it was that it had a big crack in it. The crack happened on the first ring of the bell and that this was due to sub-standard American manufacturing techniques. My good American friend pointed out that it was built in London. “So America’s first act of independence was out sourcing and it broke because it was recast locally”. HA! Got him!

The building it is housed in is very nice and has lots of information and artifacts relating to the bell. I’m not a history buff and I would be lying if I said I read everything. But it is good never the less. Also in the area are other old buildings where they signed stuff and Ben Franklin chatted to people about things. WOW I am the world’s worst history guide.

On a side note, Look at how cute that kid is. I was scared my girlfriend was going to demand a baby after she saw this adorable kid. Well he live in Philly and so does the bell so try and see them both.

Mark Goslingstar in his Film and Toy Camera World

One of the great things about photography is that we can look at the world and preserve that image on print instead of just looking at it again and again in our heads. Also, we can create a world as we’d like it to be – with everything just the way we like them.

A Salute to the Masters: The Girl with the Scarred Face (A Tribute to Juergen Teller)

This is a tribute to Juergen Teller, a great fashion photographer who continues to work with analogue cameras. In the 1990s he radically changed the way to make fashion photography. His models appear "soap and water", without heavy make-up, and his images seem taken like an amateur photographer. Between his nice works, there is a photos that I like so much, taken in Cuba and called "The Girl with the Broken Nose." Take a look after the jump!
