Yesterday, we shared with you more colorized black & white photos from decades past. Today, we found a collection of photos from Moscow in the 1930's that seem to have been colorized with paint which give us a more vivid view of Russian life back then. What do you think of these tint alterations?
You’ve got the Red Square, the Kremlin, street sweepers, and protesters, all part and parcel of life in 1931 Russia. There’s not much artist info on these images we found on Retronaut, but these colorizedvintage photos definitely give a fresh perspective on the way of Soviet life back then.

This article is a tribute to the great Russian photographer, sculptor, graphic designer, and painter Alexander Rodchenko. He was a pioneer in the search for unusual perspectives, with extreme view from above or from below, and with an innovative use of the diagonals and tilted views in his dynamic compositions. For this article, I was inspired by his most famous photo, a woman climbing a staircase, taken in 1930, which is reminiscent of the famous Odessa stair of the film "Battleship Potemkin" by Sergei Eisenstein.
Chances are you've seen plenty of color-drenched photographs while browsing through the Photos section. Faces painted blue, pets tinted green, and foliage splashed with pink light. It's called "Colorsplashing," one of Lomography's earliest techniques for giving your shots a quick color boost. We dug through the Lomography archives to revisit "The Chakras of Colorsplashing," a special project created by Lomography and Staple Design six years ago.
As one of our most seasoned community members, herbert-4's collection of photos spans over decades of experience in film photography. Some weeks ago, I made a tribute to the great photographer Robert Frank and his 1958 black and white series taken in New York from a bus window. He is the master of the ordinary moments, capturing the essence of daily life in a series of free and random sequence of photos where nothing important happens! And as I've written there I wanted to take a similar experiment with color film, which would change the perception of the environment where people live. Read more after the jump!
