An exciting exhibition on contemporary Hong Kong Photography is on this Fall! It's hosted by the Hong Kong Photography festival. There are 16 photographers participating in this "group exhibition". So if you want to know more about Hong Kong culture though the eyes of young photographers, I implore you to come and check it out!
Beside the traditional layout and organization of a “photography exhibition”, this exhibit also adresses recent developments of local photographic culture, factoring in the impact the internet has had, globalization, and new ideas within and concepts of art. There are four sections/showcases of the works of the sixteen artists/artist groups.
Here are few highlights for our cameras lovers:
If you love film camera, you cannot miss the “Nostalgic Revivalism”. It’s about experiments conducted with early photographic methods or equipment such as pinhole photography, “ancient” cameras, non-silver photo-printing processes, wet collodion glass plates, and photograms.
If you ever tried drawing on a photo or gluing it to some massive collage, the right section for you is “Mixed and Enhanced”. It represents artists who work in the mixed-media mode, or those who apply further treatments after their photographs are produced.
We can only anticipate a newfound photographic experience through attending this event and, for your history buffs, a new angle of viewing Hong Kong’s history and culture. Don’t forget to meet with the artists at the exhibition opening!
