Winter at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

by migueld

one comment and 1 voteAfter a snowstorm passed through New York City I couldn't help but wonder what one of my favorite places looked like buried under white fluffy powder. Braving the cold, I wore three layers, grabbed my LC-A+ and my Diana+ Edelweiss (which felt right at home in the snow!), and went for one of my favorite excursions yet in the big city.

The Beach View (Silay City)

4 comments and 1 submissionThere's again another secret place. Somewhere in the lonely city of Silay lies a great place which they call "Beach View". It's a nice place, very wide where you cannot see any islands in the horizon. Just by plainly looking over there can give your stressful day a relaxation therapy.

Pirates, Caribbean Island Life (Mexico)

9 comments, 16 submissions, and 3 votesThere is a place in Mexico that I fell madly in love with many years ago called Isla Mujeres. English translation; Island of Woman . So just given that information it becomes a place of wonder lust to most people. I love the slow life here, and it is nothing like the excess of Cancun. With its Caribbean cobalt sky, ( take your LCA ) and crystal clear turquoise waters,( take your Frogeye) And white-bright sugar-sand beaches, you could shoot lots of slow speed films here, or even pinhole shooting because it can be very bright in the shade on most summer days.

Bahay Nakpil-Bautista & The Boix House: Colonial Homes of Bautista Street

by eazy360

1 voteOn the tamer side of Quezon Boulevard, the echoes of colonial domesticity and fortune still linger within the old homes of Quiapo. While many have suffered the slow death of neglect and the doom of uncaring government-sanctioned demolitions, some domiciles prove to be heritage conservation successes amidst the raucous of jeepneys, fruit vendors, political rhetoric and hawkers of bootlegged videos that clog the narrow streets that were once the most beautiful in all of Manila.

3 commentsToday let's start for looking at the compass: the well-known fact is that Beijing (西京) is translated as "Northern Capital" and that Nanjing (南京) was "Southern Capital" (and still carries the name). If we'll continue to turn upon we'll find Tokyo - Dongjing (东京), which is "Eastern Capital" (the name also belonged to Kaifeng once upon a time). What is missing?
