In the Shop: Street Level Espresso.

by jeffmoore
posted 10 months agoYou’re wandering the streets of lovely Victoria in British Columbia and you need to satisfy your hunger for analog imagery while quenching your thirst for a perfectly crafted espresso. Good thing for you **Ken Gordon** has opened the perfect little spot, aptly titled: **Street Level Espresso**. The walls are adorned with large framed prints from a familiar plastic artillery. With a true eye for taste and a true taste for all things coffee, we knew there was more to the man behind the counter.

Japan Feeling in Erfurt

by annegreat
posted 10 months agoAs a German you sometimes wish for experiencing something exotic and foreign – at least I do. If your bank account tells you that a journey to the other side of the world is not going to happen in the near future a trip to a local area will help a bit to cure the feeling which we call “Fernweh” in Germany.

Hari Raya AidilAdha

2 comments and 1 voteApart from Aidilfitri, the festival most grandly celebrated by Muslims all over the world is Aidiladha. In Malaysia, it is more commonly known as Hari Raya Korban or Hari Raya Haji. Celebrated about two months after Aidilfitri, on the 10th day of Zulhijah, the 12th month of the Muslim calendar, it marks the end of the haj pilgrimage period (about two weeks) hence the name Hari Raya Haji (festival of the pilgrimage).

Everybody Loves the Fisheye!

by larslau
posted 10 months ago
2 comments and 5 votesThe fisheye is my first camera ever - and I loved it. But after taking more than a hundred shots I realised that it wasn't the most versatile camera in the world. I thought that one could take the fisheye concept further - modify it in some way and still have the absurdity of a camera which can only take fisheye pics. At first I wanted to make a medium format fisheye - I tried to modify a Holga to have a designated fisheye lens, but it was rather hard to get the lens in focus. Then I tried to adjust the aperture and shutter speed of the fisheye which gave some very funky pictures.

The fairy land of Central Turkey

by eagleye_slives
posted 10 months agoNot an easy task to describe such an irresistible and magic landscape in the middle of Turkey.. to some it might sound familiar to imagine what is meant when we mention Cappadocia( Katpatuka, the land of the beautiful horses)it is a wide rocky plateau where people used to live there since ancient times. Mostly in caves that where built in the mountains or even in caves underground like in Derinkuyu or Kaymakli.

2 comments and 1 vote53 grottoes (read: caves) with thousands statues carry a history of 1500 years back in time. The historical records state that more then 40000 people contributed to the project that took 50 years to complete (all happened during the Northern Wei Dynasty, guided by a monk, named Tan Yao).
