  I found my first lubitel on ebay. She came from Ukraine and had the lovely name 166. Shipping cost more than the camera herself. She arrived and I saw she’d been used before. Some parts were a bit broken or missing. I shot a few rolls, always thinking about the shoot from the hip rule and have not been looking through the viewfinder.

  Located in the center region of the Portuguese Atlantic coast, Nazaré is one of the most beautiful and traditional village at the Portuguese sea shore. The name Nazaré was given to this village in the 4th century due to a statue of the Virgin Mary that has been brought by a monk from Nazareth, Palestine.

  Over the past couple of months, I have had the great privilege of testing out the new "Lomo Lubitel 166+":http://www.lomography.com/lubitel166+/ to get a feel for this amazing new camera. One of my favorite things to do, ever since I first discovered Lomography, has been to just go out walking with a camera and pockets stuffed with film, to just let the world come through my lens. It's a way of heightening your senses and really become attuned to the world around you. It has always been, for me, a very intimate approach to taking pictures, and if someone asked me, I'd say that's what Lomography is all about.

  By now, you must have heard of the new king of Lomotown- the "Lubitel 166+":http://www.lomography.com/lubitel166+/about made its debut recently together with his faithful assistant, the very optimistic Lubikin which exclusively is in charge on any of the camera's internal 35mm affairs thus making the Lubitel a very un-modern but hip, bi-format twin lens reflex camera of its kind.
