Novgorod Kremlin

by wil6ka

one commentIt all started in Novgorod. It is the oldest Russian city founded in 859 A.D., at a time were Lithuanian tribes ruled the Slavic territories. There was no Russian Kingdom and no superpower in sight. It is situated 190 km south of St.Petersburg and as the base of the Russian nation it was given the title “Veliky”, which means “the great”. And this is how you can separate Veliky Novgorod from the South-Siberian Nischnji Novgorod!!

Karaoke-Box in Roppongi

by wil6ka
posted about 1 year ago
one comment and 3 votesIn my point of view Karaoke is such an important part of Japanese Popculture as Manga and Anime. Because the ambitious salary men of the island are working 24/7 they surely try to enjoy their free time at the max. Invented in the 70's the idea of making yourself a clown by singing your favourite songs in front of a large crowd. In Japan it is quite common to book entire karaoke boxes for some hours. Fixed by this idea we made this entertainment our program for new years eve. First we looked around Shinjuku, but nope. We found our spot in Roppongi, which is the new nightlife quarter of Tokyo. There are entire Karaoke-Buildings, that have boxes on several floors, which are decorated in movie- and music-themes. The rent of the box is paid per the amount of people singing. So this is reasonable, but cheap it isn’t. You also have to buy drinks, maybe you right away take the flatrate. In the box we needed 10 minutes to figure out the system to choose songs and we were anxious to get the action on like in “lost in translation”. Finally we figured out that there is a display which takes the orders and sends them to the prompter via Bluetooth. There is also a telephone-book-size instruction from which you can also choose songs.

Da(o)wn on the Chinese wall (Beijing)

2 commentsIt is the one building, that is seen outside of the earth while cruising on a spaceship: The Chinese wall! But despite its extension of 6400 km it’s not, like many people thing one continuous building, it has never been.

Capsule Inn Akihabara

7 comments and 1 voteWell, of course the king of all lodging possibilities is the capsule hotel. Something so unique it must be Japanese! The capsule hotel is the ultimate way to save room and money. As a guest you are leaving your belongings in a locker room and you will receive slipper and a bathrobe (yukata). In that sexy outfit you make your way up to your room, which is about 2m long and 1m wide.

Mandore Monkey Park

by wil6ka
posted about 1 year agoIndia is exciting but it is wild, maybe because of its wilderness. In the Mandore Park it all comes together. The territory is huge and there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of people there. Not so many foreigners here, so you are watched like a monkey.

Éméi Shan, Holy Mountain (Chengdu)

1 voteLikewise to the Moslems and the Christians there are certain tasks for Buddhists to do, on the way to enlightenment. It is hard to judge how long this tradition exists, but walking up the holy mountain of Emei Shan is such a cathartic move. This 3000 meter high rock is covered by clouds and a wild paradise for ugly monkeys and spiritual pilgrims. They take on the uncounted steep steps up to the peak.

Forbidden City (Beijing)

1 voteI am not into being photographed. But there are some of these spots, where you want to be on the picture: Winning you first million with gambling in Vegas, taking your first spaceship-ride and standing in front of the forbidden city in Beijing. Especially with the massive Mao-Picture up front at the main gate.

Red Square (Moscow)

1 voteAfter the Russians have won the Eurovision song contest I have to bow and say, what they really want they will get eventually. Well, and the 10 million dollar oil-money, that was needed to pay the song, written by Timbaland was helpful as well. But the one place that displays the state of mind of the largest country in the world is truly the red square in Moscow.

9 comments and 1 voteBuy one, love one, use it and cross process it but before all of that always bring your Lomo anywhere with you and surely you'll get certain surprises. The traditional and basic thing about taking your Lomo with you is I think is the best way to capture those rare moments. And for me, using this film is a joy everytime.
