  Lyon is a beautiful city in France. The first time I went there I was really charmed by the mood and the characteristics of the city and now, every time I go back there, I'll see always a lot of new things.

  The "Institut du Monde Arabe" (Institute of Arab World) is a beautiful architectural and cultural place in Paris near to the river Seine in the centre of the city. Very futuristic building, its conception was planned to be synthesis between modern European style and traditional Arabic one.

  A place where you always find the right book or simply have a nice talk and sometimes a cup of tea. Marianne has a bookstore, its called Der Buchladen Marianne Friedrich. I got to know her a few years ago. She wanted me for organisation-team, so we got to know each other better. She is so nice. I really love to go to her bookstore, to buy a book (they always inform me very well and find EVERY book) or to drink tea and talk.

  Khoo is the family name. Kongsi means clan (family) house. This clan house of the Khoo family reminds us of the very first period when the Chinese came to Penang. The Khoo family that built this Kongsi came originally from Sin Kang village in the Hokkien province of China. They actually began migrating overseas in the 16th century. They came to Penang sometime in the late 18th century. By 1835 the numbers was large enough that they formed a clan group and purchased the land and started building the first Kongsi.

• Medieval village of Sainte Agnes

  This little village is a rare photographic, historic and romantic spot on the Cote d'Azur. Sainte Agnes has the official title of the "highest coastal village of Europe"!! Indeed, it's only 3 km far from the sea and 800m high, so you got a great point of view about the whole coast of Menton (also very nice little old town...) and the beginning of Italy, and the pre-alps mountains (Mercantour parc, great place too...) behind you. An old castle (mostly in ruins) is on the top of the mountain and was built at the beginning of the 14th century with the village just below. It was a main place to control the coast and to see quickly the enemies approaching from all around. Between 1932 and 1938 a military base of the "ligne Maginot" was built inside the mountain (it was part of the defensive line between France and Germany and Italy) with big artillery towards the sea and Italy!! Nowadays it's empty and you can visit it without problems, very interesting :)

  The Guadalupe day on the 12th of December is the national festivity of the brunette Virgin Guadalupe. Some people say that everybody is guadalupano in Mexico, it doesn't actually matter what religion they practice... well, that's an exaggeration; I wasn't raised as a Catholic, so I didn't understand (I still don't understand) that way of expressing faith. I had never been at the Guadalupe Basilica (something quite irregular for someone who lives so near it), but last December 12 I visited it with some few fellow photographers.

  Ahhh, the lovely fortress town of San Gimignano! It was declared a UNESCO architectural world heritage site and no doubt indeed. The town is surrounded by massive walls and the entrance arch frames narrow cobbled streets lined with shops and cafes all bearing the specialities of the region. From hand-painted ceramics, glassware, pounded silver jewelry and of course the famed wines.

  My name is Kim and I've been living in Liège for a long time now. I don't want to worry about how many people are living in Liège or how many square meters Liège is. Liège is a nice city in Belgium and is a part of the Wallonia region (there is also a Flemish region and a German one! wonderful for one of the 3 smallest countries of the whole Universe!). Despite of the fact that it is a small city in a small country, Liège is always moving very fast! We love evolution, art and culture. I have several places where I love to go.

  The Ponte JK (Juscolino Kubitschek Bridge), crossing Paranoá Lake, is today one of the most famous points of Brasilia, the planned city built by President Juscelino Kubitschek to be the capital of Brazil. It was inaugurated in 2002 in his honor and in 2003 it was elected in a World International Congress on Bridges (yes, such a thing exists...) the most beautiful bridge of the world. Alexandre Chan and Mario Vila Verde are respectively the architect and the engineer responsible for its design and construction, which cost around 160 million reis (Brazilian money) (or 80 million American dollars today...). It is a beautiful place, really, because it seems to be so light (despite it weights more than 13 000 tons) and at night the illumination gives it a special aura, as if Brasilia was a huge modern metropolis.

  Every year the eleven a side girls football team that my daughter plays for - Darlington Spraire Lasses u16s, goes to compete in several tournaments that begin once the league season has finished. Tournaments are often a way for clubs to raise finances and widen their profile and builds relationships that can cross into league tie ups.

  The train for Lao Cai starts at 10.00 p.m. and takes all the night to make 340 km. The rails follow the Red river and go up and down through beautiful valleys. The train go very slowly, maybe too slowly. This is the region of "montagnards", the name comes from the French domination but it is still in use for more than 50 ethnic groups living on the North Mountains close to China and Laos. Vietnamese people don't like montagnards for their old alliance with French and then Americans, that's why they are called "moi" which means savage. From Lao Cai we went to Sapa. This is the area where you can find the best markets all over Vietnam. The scene is really great, green mountains, and flowered among famous for its beautiful clothes. Women have clothes with vivid colors and silver rings and bracelets. Men and Women are very small. They are very hospitable and they will invite you to see their house maybe it's an excuse to sell you something but it's ok.

  Valencia is a city next to the beach where lots of Spanish and foreign students are living. Therefore it never lacks of animation. First of all, the city is amazing in an architectural point of view. Indeed, the main river, called the Turia, has been dried because of flood problems and they decided to make a huge park inside.

  Have you ever been in Greece? No?! Then it's time to do that, because Greece has lots of good things for you... And if you choose to make a sightseeing-trip to Crete Island which is very friendly to the tourists from the whole world, do not hesitate to rent a car and take a little road to the south of the island. To be precise, go to Matala village, which is about 75 kilometers south-west of Heraklion (or Iraklion), the center (or capital) of Crete island.
