Give Us Some Analogue Lovin'!

1

If there’s one thing we love here at Lomography (aside from all things analogue), it’s getting emails from our community members! Whether it’s an inquiry or even just a random “Hi!”, getting in touch with fellow analogue lovers always makes our day brighter!

So you can just imagine our delight when we received an email from filmmaker and Lomography user Danny Brown aka dannyisok, telling us his story! Take a look:

Hi there,

I really wasn’t sure who to contact about this, but I figured I would write all of you. I wanted to share something with you that I figured you would appreciate.

Since high school, I have been interested in photography. Our photo lab was still an actual film lab. I found out about Lomography through the internet and instantly became a fan. My first Lomo camera was a Holga. I still have and use it today. These cameras have really played an important role in my life. I grew up in Texas and moved out to Los Angeles after school where I wanted to pursue a filmmaking career. I’m currently doing just that […]. I never gave up still photography and to this day still love shooting on film and shooting on my Lomo cameras. Using these cameras, I’ve been able to make mistakes which end up as […] awesome images.

I recently shot a music video for a friend of mine. I got the idea while looking through some of my double exposure prints. I noticed that the black space in film does not expose, but once there’s an additional exposure on top of the black space, that second exposure really comes through. In the days of so much digital I was very excited to try this idea out on a music video, knowing that this could not be done with a digital camera.

Of course, you can bet that when Danny mentioned that he shot a music video the analogue way, we immediately asked him to tell us more about it! Since then, we’ve been in contact with him, exchanging messages and sharing information. Watch out for our feature on him and his project on the Magazine soon!

Happenings on Film: Yeti Scavenger Hunt in Zaporozhye

My friends and I teamed up with Photo Art Pro to spread analog love to the Zaporozhye community. Last month, we hosted a Yeti Scavenger Hunt and had a LomoKino camera as prize. We challenged participants to shoot a roll of film based on a checklist. It was tremendous fun!
