Have you heard about the massive LomoMap in Cologne? The one Lomography is setting up to celebrate photokina 2012? No? Then let us fill you in on the impressive details - just read on to find out all about it!
We all know that incredible feeling of being the first one to achieve something very special. Thanks to some great collaborative work, Lomography and Das Telefonbuch have done just that! And we’re organizing the very first exhibition to take place in the square in front of Cologne’s main train station right next to Cologne’s famous cathedral!
A short 20 minute walk from our legendary Lomography Gallery Store in Cologne, the LomoFloor will represent a giant map of Germany’s finest Lomographs, taken and chosen by our incredible community. Together with Das Telefonbuch: we set up an online competition beyond comparison asking our German community to submit Lomographs featuring all facets of Germany. The result is a 1000m2 space filled with 170,000 analogue pictures and 1560 LomoPanels. How long did all that take you ask? Over 1,500 working hours!
You can walk right over this photomap and this will allow you to stroll over the lush fields of Bayern in the South, cross the Thuringian Forest, enjoy the party scene of Berlin and return to Cologne in a few steps.
To keep you busy, we also planned a lot of exciting games and treasure hunts! Want to discover Germany’s best-kept secrets? Then make sure to head to the opening party starting at 6pm on the 18th September 2012!

You want your subject be the center of attention? Petzval lens photos are recognizable for sharpness and crispness in the centre, strong color saturation, wonderful swirly bokeh effect, artful vignettes and narrow depth of field that will make your subjects stand out!
If formal training alone is not enough to make great art, then being in a room full of like-minded people might be another form of encouragement. To see fellow artists labor over the tiniest detail, to feel the depth of their ambition, to be part of this silent energy—these are priceless perks. The following photographs of University of Art and Design from the 1920s let us sit in on some of these busy classes.

It was the Amazon which I had longed for my whole life. And when it was finally a set deal that I will travel to Brazil with two of my best friends for the Copa do Mundo (World Cup), we really had to start our adventure in the Amazon. I had known about this magical place deep in the rainforest. There was a lodge run by local people of indigenous background, with wooden houses that float on the water and a limited number of visitors. It was eco-tourism as how it should be. To preserve and to celebrate one of the most impressive locations I have seen so far.
