How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I heard about it here, in Zagreb –- it was a meeting of a Lomo group and a school of Lomography (which, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend), but I saw their adverts in caffe. Also, some of my friends from other countries are Lomographers.

Is there anyone in the Lomographic Society you look up to? If yes, who is him/her and why?

Well, nobody special…. There are many Lomography members who are doing great work and I like it very much. I follow people mostly because they match my style and views.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

The most important one is to bring the camera, of course, and to use it, whatever you do! Approaching as close as possible and being fast are also the rules I always try to follow. As well as “Do not think, just shoot!”

In this digital age, why still film?

I love film! Had a digital camera one time and very soon I realized it’s just a bunch of same photos, stored on some dusty HDD folder or DVD. And you never look at them, they die, together with places and people on them. Also, I started with photography 20 years ago, when film was the only option. I love the feeling of NOT KNOWING what you have done, until development, and the fact that you actually HAVE TO USE IMAGINATION and meditate a result before every shutter click is an additional excitement.

Share your current favorite Lomograph (could be yours or a friend’s) and explain why it is your favorite.

It is, no doubt, this one. (It’s one of my pictures) I love those contrasts, those sky and thar “model” very much (my wife!) Took it with a Praktica L, without photo studio on the island that develops films (had to wait ten days!), not knowing whatever will be on those negatives… and then, surprise! ;)

To be honest with you, that album made me think about sharing the work with other people and that’s how the whole Lomography experience started!

Newbie, rookie, neophyte or whatever you call them, our new breed of the ever-growing band of Lomographers are set to conquer the analogue land with their brand new hip-shooting abilities! And this is where we feature them along with their wistful thoughts and the freshest snaps each week!

    Solar Eclipses and Beyond

The skies were busy with magic today — or maybe it was just the solar eclipse that caused all that ruckus? Decked out in space-age goggles and other various sun viewing paraphernalia, groups of people gathered as the moon moved between the sun and the earth this morning across Europe. Only a few lucky folks witnessed the total eclipse, and here at Vienna HQ, the greatest moment of the partial eclipse happened at 10:45 A.M. and lasted only a few minutes. We stopped everything we were doing to join the sky watchers crew and share in this astonishing moment. Check out these brilliant solar-inspired shots to celebrate the occasion!
