A couple of months ago, my fellow lomographers from the Auckland Lomography group and I, geared ourselves with our favorite cameras and took a stroll around K Road. We drew inspirations from the historical heritage architecture, the different personalities hanging out on the street, the scattered street art, and the eerie cemetery with the aged tombstones and uneven grounds – and snapped to our hearts’ content.

The Cemetery

Back in my university days, K Road was my regular hangout spot. I can easily spend hours during my spare time in-between lectures browsing the clothing stores, catching up with my friends at St. Kevin’s Arcade, or relaxing at Central’s, Auckland’s least known and most underrated asset – Myers Park. This peaceful park adds a sense of tranquility amongst the busy cityscape and is set to undergo a million dollar makeover, courtesy of the Auckland Council.

So next time you’re in Auckland, make an effort to go to Karangahape Road and experience the culture that K’Road has to offer. And if you are interested in seeing more photos, check out ting_jez's and adam_g2000's photos from the meet up!
