Lomography teamed up with indie band Vacationer for the music video Trip, shot mostly with the analogue movie making powerhouse, the Lomokino!
If you haven’t hit play on our front page yet, you may have missed this vacation loving music video, made by the band Vacationer, and surf cult cinematographer Dave Homcy. Thankfully, we’ve got the whole story!
We handed Vacationer a Lomokino 35mm Movie Maker and bunch of film, and crossed our fingers for the best. The photogenic lead singer, Kenny Vasoli, hopped on a flight to Hawaii, almost literally vacationing, while being followed around the North Shore of Oahu, by Dave Homcy, LomoKino in hand. The result is nothing less than dreamy, warm and analogue!
When we asked about the whole experience, Kenny Vasoli said: “The LomoKino cameras that we used to film this played a huge role in this video. Its character played a major role in the final cut. The visual effect of modern footage captured by analog means complement the essence of our musical production. Warm, choppy, and vibrant are all adjectives I’d use to describe the LomoKino’s developed film, they are also words I would hope people use to describe Vacationer music. The marriage of the two makes total sense to me. I hope everyone enjoys this.”
We also got a quick second with the Cinematographer, Dave Homcy and asked how his filming experience went: “This was the most fun I’ve had shooting a film camera in a long time which was due in big part to the camera itself. It allowed me think outside of the box and I had a great time shooting it.”
Get out there and make some LomoKino movie magic of your own!
