"JPG Magazine":http://www.jpgmag.com is one of our very favorite publications. Each month, they present a slamming collection of images, stories, and photo journalism - all sourced from the hyper-creative members of their online community. We share a lot of synergy with them, as many JPG contributors are diehard Lomographers and many of their features focus on Lomographic and analog cameras. The Long Exposure Photo Challenge

Prop your camera up, open the shutter, and play! This photo challenge is all about fun and experimentation, so show us your most creative long exposure shot, the ones where the lights blur and the unexpected is exposed. Whether it’s a long exposure shot of a moving crowd, the spinning stars at night, or your best painting with light photo , we want to see it!

The long exposure photo challenge is sponsored and guest-judged by Lomography and the top three winners will receive one of the new special edition Colorsplash Chakra cameras, designed by Staple Design, along with a copy of the “Colorsplash Chakras” book, signed by Staple and Lomography. This photo challenge will be open for one week and will close July 2nd. Some starter tips— use a tripod to avoid camera shake, and try some test shots at 10, 20, or 30 seconds. But there’s no right way, so show us how you shoot!

The contest starts NOW!! Deadline for submissions: July 2nd.

Submit your images and read more here.

    Meet our LomoGuru: zulupt

Aside from being an immensely talented lomographer, what makes him a perfect LomoGuru is his burning desire to share his knowledge. The city where he lives is full of people who are interested in analog photography, but the lack of easy access to film and equipment poses a challenge for them to pursue their passion. To keep them motivated, Hugo organizes workshops and tours on different film photography techniques and DIY tricks. Let's give a loud round of applause to Hugo Pereira, better known in the community as zulupt, our LomoGuru from Marinha Grande, Portugal!

    Kyoto in a Heartbeat

Like a cluster of cherry blossoms, the temples in Kyoto can stop visitors in their tracks. These people assume the pose of a statue, a camera dangling from their neck and hands. On a first visit especially, the impulse to photograph every angle is constant. The Kinkaku-ji Temple and the torii-lined Fushimi Inari-Taisha are always packed; one would think the tourists would hurry along. But really, many are busy taking snatches of Kyoto with them.

    Lomo LC-A 120: Quirky Doors

In photography, we notice the surface first. The color and texture of things help us imagine what’s beneath. Doors, part of a building’s skin, have this appeal. They suggest how long a structure has been around and what sort of fellows live inside. They are details that fascinate Lomographers, judging from the many LC-A 120 snaps of intriguing entrances.

James Wright's So It Goes x Sri Lanka Photo Diary (Part II)

In December last year James Wright, editor and creative director of So It Goes Magazine, went on a two-week trip to Sri Lanka, "a place so long on our bucket list, but up until then, as yet unvisited," he writes on the first of his three-part photo diary. Herein is the second part of his series that chronicles his adventures, highlighted by a selection of breathtaking images of the Sri Lankan countryside and the locals, among many other images, captured with his trusty photographic companions: the Leica MP, Lomo LC-A+, and an assortment of films including the LomoChrome Purple.

Photo Stories: Away With You by lomomowlem

It is clear from the wild variety of photos in the website that Lomographers will do just about anything to get a good shot. Some swap rolls with friends overseas while others concoct unheard-of film soups. And then there are the masters of operations, the ones who spy and crouch their way to a share-worthy picture. This is one such story.
