Tips on Flower Doubles

9

Multiple exposures are a perfect way how to experiment, be creative and sometimes even make your time you spend with your camera more interesting and adventurous. And because it’s a season when you may find flowers everywhere, let’s have some double-flower-fun!

My favourite “doubling” always includes flowers. Flowers are sometimes unpredictable as a layer, but they add to the photos certain freshness, colours and coincidence.

Portraits and flowers are, in my opinion, one of the best and easiest ways how to take a great multiple exposure picture. Usually, I take the flower layer photo first and then portrait or self-portrait. So what do you need and how does it work?

All you need is a roll of film, a camera and some flowers (either in pots or somewhere in a garden or a park). For flower-doubles, I usually shoot with my old Beirette, which doesn’t have the MX button. So after shooting the flower-layer, I rewind and reload the roll and shoot on it again, even some months later.

By the way, flowers are also perfect for the film-swapping.

It’s so easy, so do not hesitate to try it!

Have some flower-fun!

Because of this sometimes it can be a little intimidating for a regular guy in the Big Apple to step up, talk to the girl you like, or make new friends. So here are a few tips, courtesy of the Lomo'Instant, that will help you to break the ice.

    My Lomo’Instant Quick Tips

I backed the Kickstarter project for the Lomo’Instant earlier this year and was thrilled to receive it last week. I love how the camera naturally encourages you to experiment with its different features, whether it’s through flashing your multiple exposures with different colors or trying different creative techniques after your shots has been ejected. Here are a few tips from what I’ve discovered from playing with the camera so far (and a couple of tips I want to try out in future)!

The Magic Yet To Come: Part 1

Here’s a random and rather mysterious tale for you folks. Just the other day, I was at a local bar with a few friends. It was much like any other evening; we were sipping a couple of cocktails, recounting our adventures, falling over ourselves with laughter and half-drunkenly meditating on the meaning of life (a scientist once told me it’s 42 by the way). But then something truly strange happened. Read on to hear my story and please make a comment with your guess at the end!
