Pet Portraits: The Cutest Reason to Go Analogue!

7

A look into all the analog cuteness that the Lomography community has to offer!

Animals, like children, unwilling adults, and moving vehicles, are definitely a challenge to the photographer, but I have certainly found them to be some of my most rewarding subjects. All around the Lomography community, cute, weird, and wonderful Lomographs have been appearing everywhere of these beloved pets!

This picture is the first portrait that I took of my own dog, Jason. I love the bright blond colour, and the way that the camera captures his expression! Not even Marilyn can do blond as well as a golden Labrador – (He is actually named after Jason and the Argonauts – and their famous golden coat!)

My Puppy, Barny (otherwise known as the Red Midget, and The Bane of Jason’s Life!) is so difficult to photograph! He ended up just making my lens really smudgy by rubbing his nose to it! I finally got some cute shots thanks to the split second shutter speed of my Diana, and he is by far my most willing subject!

I love this one-of-a-kind photo taken by lomographer @filby. It’s a great angle – eye to eye with the subject on their own turf.

But not everyone owns cats and dogs, right?

How about this cute and inquisitive tortoise photographed by @Mr-Korn?

Or @badjuju ’s six-week-old racoon!

There’s so much to discover in this fantastic online community – and other people’s photos will give you great inspiration for your own.

This perfectly timed photo taken by @mateja inspired me to try capturing Barny leaping about like a mad thing,

and finally, who doesn’t enjoy lying down and risking getting run over by a crazy red midget?

Whatever your inspiration, and whatever pets you have (or find!) don’t forget to take out your camera and try your luck with these most challenging and inquisitive subjects.

petpictures are kind of cheesy and cliché, but so hard to resist. Everytime I think 'this time I'm going to go out and shoot interesting stuff and be all philosophical about it, and everytime I end up shooting my fat cat for 3/4 of my film.

Pet pictures and landscapes are all that really interest me, I think its because they don't change their behaviour in front of the camera like people do. IMHO To get decent human shots you have to waste a few just getting them used to the camera.
