Spotted: Magic Instant Camera in Doraemon!

5

I was rewatching the cartoon Doraemon just the other day when I noticed something special in one of the episodes... a miniaturizing, magic instant camera! Now imagine if that were real? Read more about the episode the jump.

Please excuse the bad quality of these photos, I took them from my TV screen, haha

The story of this episode begins with the boy, Big Bear, being told to go outside and play. He mopes around because he’d wanted to play inside. Big Bear has nothing left to do but to go and find his other friends. Coincidentally, all of his friends were told the same thing by their parents as well. They all start to get restless and bored when Doraemon has an idea!

(Now if you’ve never seen this show before, Doraemon is a robot cat with a magic pouch. He comes from the future and basically has every invention possible. In each episode, the audience is introduced to new inventions.)

He pulls the Miniaturizing Polaroid out of his pouch and begins to explain how it works.

Basically, all you have to do with the camera is take pictures of whatever you want. In this case, the kids want somewhere they can play. So, they photography a house.

After the photo prints, you put it on the ground and pour hot water on it. Wait three seconds, and the Polaroid morphs into a mini house!

Excited by this, Big Bear goes around the neighborhood, taking pictures of everything! I’m pretty sure he ends up photographing a comic book store, a pastry store, toy stores, and a bunch of houses.

Watering the small village….

Hurrraahh!

And then they use another magic item, a tunnel that makes you tiny, and hang out in their new village!

A bit far fetched, but wouldn’t it be cool if we had magical cameras? Maybe some day, in the far future… ;)

    Registering Moments With the Lomo'Instant

Some people say instant photos bring about a feeling of nostalgia. Although I often use the Lomo'Instant Camera with different crazy accessories such as the Splitzer and color gels, I have to agree there is something about it — dreamy vignettes maybe? — that always makes me want to go back in time and experience it all over again. In the name of analogue photography and good old memories, we passed by some classic spots in Vienna and took one shot after the other. Take a closer look at our gallery.

Pushing Boundaries: Multiple Exposing Film Soup

As you may have read in my previous article, I truly fell in love with Lomography when I combined my Fisheye camera with an old Canon AE-1 for magical photographic results. Last summer, I took so many pictures of flowers that it started to become almost boring for me. My waning interest and the coming winter meant that I had to figure out something else to do with my 35mm film.
