We had a lovely chat with LomoAmigas Rachel Trachtenburg and Julia Cumming from SUPERCUTE! Band, who told us about their uniquely sweet music and first film camera experience with the Fisheye No. 2. Read on to find out what they think about the whole Fisheye experience and check out the photos they snapped with our very own fishy shooter!
Please tell us something about yourselves and your band.
We are SUPERCUTE!, Rachel Trachtenburg and Julia Cumming. We would describe ourselves as teenage-revolutionary-rockettes, here to change the world with color and music.
Can you describe your music to us?
Who or what influences your unique music?
Our music is influenced by the sweetness of cotton candy and the aftertaste of Syd Barret.
Was the Fisheye No. 2 White your first film camera experience? If so, how did you find it?
The Fisheye No. 2 WAS our first film camera experience! We’ve been having a lot of fun with our cameras, they’re bubbly and also our best friends. We take them everywhere. They grow increasingly more adorable as time goes on, and they’re perfect for capturing all the ups and downs in our city.
What was your first impression on the Fisheye No. 2 White?
At first, we thought it was the perfect accessory to a colorful life (and wardrobe)… and a really good introduction to the world of film.
How did you find taking photos with the Fisheye No. 2 White?
In the beginning, we thought we might miss the zoom-aspect of other cameras. But the Fisheye really adds its own perspective to the pictures, with a dash more character than even a regular film camera picture. We also loved the double-exposure feature on the Fisheye No. 2, it makes the photos really trippy.
Can you share with us some of your favorites among the photos you took with the Fisheye No. 2 White?
Do you have any words of advice for those who want to try shooting with Fisheye cameras?
FLASH! Don’t underestimate the flash, it really comes in handy. Also, the closer you get into the shot, the more warpy it becomes, and in turn, more fun.
Lastly, do you have any current projects? Where can people catch you perform?
Well, our album is coming out in September of 2012. We recorded it in London with Kate Nash, the producer. We are so excited for everyone to hear it. We are playing in the city a lot, and you can see the list of all of our gigs right here!
