Rainbow Bright: Unexpected Colours from Film Swaps

When I first joined the community, I was a little skeptical towards film swaps but the colourful surprises that you get are worth every penny!

My first film swap was with @pussylove. She opened my eyes to the possibilities and when she scanned in the roll of Sensia 100 I sent her, I was amazed by how vividly pink everything was.

She sent me a film I’d never used before, a Velvia 50f. I chose to shoot this at our local museum. I had no idea what to expect from her roll and the wonderful green and yellow tones made every picture wonderful.

My next swap was with @traaaart. I noticed him post a message on the shoutbox ‘Anyone want to do a film swap?’ and I thought, why not!

I sent him my new favourite film, a Provia 100f. He sent me back another Sensia 100, but what a difference to the last one!

When I scanned it, in there were more purple tones, less pink. Here are the best of both.

After @traaaart, was @lighthouseblues. She liked my home, I liked hers, so we went for it. This time we did a little planning, we decided to shoot fauna each first then when the roll arrived, we’d both shoot architecture over the top of it.

Once again I sent a Provia, but the results were much different. There was more variety in the colours, I expect as the fauna added much to the swap.

I was once again, massively surprised by what I got sent, a Velvia 100f, another film I hadn’t yet had the chance to use. Her snowy landscapes lit up my summer buildings like magic.

Film swaps are something that is part of the lomo lifestyle, a chance to become better acquainted with other members of the community, all over the world. So don’t fret, if anyone offers you the opportunity, jump at it. Not only will you be amazed at the results, if you use slide film, the rainbow of colours will blow you away too!

Spinner 360: Pull the Cord and Let the Magic Happen!

The story between the Spinner 360 and I goes way back to the year 2010, when Lomography decided to send me a beta model of the Spinner 360 to test. It was a complete surprise! I thought, "What the hell is that?" as I first took this camera out of the package. Then, when my little brother grabbed it from me and pulled the cord, it buzzed and turned 360°! We all had the same expression: "Whoa..."

My Key to Escaping Digital Confinement: The Lomo LC-Wide

I'm Nick Page, a graphic designer based in the UK. After 20 years of working in advertising, I returned to film photography five years ago and found that the analogue life was just what I needed to get away from the "pixel perfect" images I deal with every day in my job.

Photo Stories: Away With You by lomomowlem

It is clear from the wild variety of photos in the website that Lomographers will do just about anything to get a good shot. Some swap rolls with friends overseas while others concoct unheard-of film soups. And then there are the masters of operations, the ones who spy and crouch their way to a share-worthy picture. This is one such story.

March Frenzy: Tottenham Takes Over the V&A

I went to the Victoria & Albert Museum's Friday Late, an event that takes place every last Friday evening of the month. For March 2014, the London borough of Tottenham was invited to curate an evening of creativity. There were a number of events that went on ranging from music and art to fashion and film. Accompanied by my LC-A+ and Fisheye No. 2, here are my highlights of that evening in photographs.

12 Months, 12 Projects: March Of Caffenol

My list of resolutions for 2015 consists of 12 projects, one for every month. March was for caffenol. You have probably heard of the amazing fact that you can develop black and white photos with coffee, sodium, and vitamin C. I had tried this before but with less than stellar results. Somehow, there's always something going wrong. Time to devote a few rolls to caffenol to finally get the hang of it.
