Merce and the Muse is a small American coffee shop in the area of République and Le Marais in Paris, which serves an excellent brunch on Sundays with mostly bio and homemade food. Want to eat well and travel from the Parisian way of life? Then go to Merce and the Muse!
Merce and the Muse is a small coffee shop located in the Paris area of Le Marais and managed by a young American called Merce Muse. The café is quite small, with only a few tables, and decorated with a vivid blue wall and vintage items. Welcomed by the cute American accent of Merce and the other staff of the café, and surrounded by customer conversations in English or other languages, it’s like we are traveling to Brooklyn!
The coffee shop offers some fresh salads and many homemade pies, cakes, cookies, and scones with flavours such as carrot, cranberry, thyme…It also serves delicious coffees and teas.
On Sundays, you can eat an excellent brunch for 10 to 23€ (10 for small bites, 20 for the big plate, and 23 with a desert). The brunch (I took the 20€ brunch) includes fresh orange juice and a hot beverage, a basket of various breads with butter and homemade jam (pear, ginger and lemon, yummy!), and a plate with various fresh salads (I had one salad made of grated carrot, poppy seeds, and cranberries, and one with spinach and goat cheese), black bread with cottage cheese, salmon and chives, and a boiled egg. It’s just so good!
Since the place is small (only 15 seats available), you’re mostly going to end up eating either on a corner of a small table or eat among other customers on the big table. And if the place is full or you’re in a bit of a hurry, you can take your brunch to take away, how great is that?!
The ratio quality/price is really fair, the atmosphere is great and cosy, the food just amazing, so people in Paris: go have a coffee, scones or brunch at Merce and the Muse! I hope I made you hungry. ;-)
