Lindhorst at Night

How everything changes when sun sets? “You hate it and you know you have to leave”

Lindhorst is a small village, a wannabe- city, a I don’t know place. 4500 People live there, there is a station, several bus stops, two (!) traffic lights, supermarkets (plural!) and two gasoline’s, a school, a kindergarten, a bank,… But mostly it is a place to live and not to work. There are worker-quarters, streets full of same looking, same cut houses and at the border there are still farms and fields.

I don’t like the city itself, but I like taking photos, so I have no choice if I do not want to go far: remain here. And at night it is quiet nice here, because you hardly meet people. Like a ghost city with some illuminated parts. For example the school yard is illuminated and looks very good in long exposures, the houses, the moon, the stars, the shops,… Open your eyes and you can see the beauty of this ugly place.

And one thing you can be sure of: there are cars driving here! And they are driving too fast and are like rolling discotheques.
But they are not playing the song of Lindhorst: “Smalltwon” (e.g. Lou Reed / John Cale) – “You hate it and you know you have to leave”

We met our new LomoAmigo Luka Tacon when we danced to the hypnotic beats of his duo Heartbreaker at our Lomo'Instant Wide Launch Party in NYC. Now, the brooklyn-based DJ and electronic music producer is preparing for an EPIC Lover's Ball at House of Yes with his friends at Might Get Weird, experimenting with the La Sardina and LC-A, and feeling the Latin rhythms of Costa Rica. Read more about his inspirations and how he feels analog equipment, whether it be for music or photography, has something that digital just doesn't. Long Exposures Around Europe with the Minitar-1 Art Lens

One of the things I like the most about the Minitar-1 Art lens is how sharp the focus can be when you shoot with a small aperture. So if you are one of those that like to shoot at night, get a tripod, add this to a late dark winter afternoon, and you will end up with a bunch of beautiful long exposures. This is what I did on my last trip to Europe.

    Solar Eclipses and Beyond

The skies were busy with magic today — or maybe it was just the solar eclipse that caused all that ruckus? Decked out in space-age goggles and other various sun viewing paraphernalia, groups of people gathered as the moon moved between the sun and the earth this morning across Europe. Only a few lucky folks witnessed the total eclipse, and here at Vienna HQ, the greatest moment of the partial eclipse happened at 10:45 A.M. and lasted only a few minutes. We stopped everything we were doing to join the sky watchers crew and share in this astonishing moment. Check out these brilliant solar-inspired shots to celebrate the occasion!
