Basking at the Beach: My Personal Favorites

3

Summer time. It’s the season for sun, sand, and waves. And in the Philippines, summers are scorching hot, with temperatures reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius on a typical summer day. To cool off, Pinoys love to go to the beach, slather on some sunscreen and have a cool dip in the ocean or at the pool. Over the years, I've collected lots of family photos on the beach. Here are some of my favorites.

At Munting Buhangin, Batangas

Over the years, I have collected lots of family vacation pictures of our escapades to the beach. Mostly our trips were at different resorts in Batangas City because it’s nearest to where we are. Since I got started with analog photography a few years ago, I always make it a point to bring one or two film cameras with me when going to the beach. Also for super sunny days on the beach, I prefer to use slide films because I just love the color tones it brings to the photos.

Here are some of my favorite subjects while on the beach:

Our fishy friends. From weird looking starfishes, corals, and other aquatic creatures, they’re always interesting to look at.

Other beach-loving people and the surroundings. Just random shots of other people who also enjoy spending time at the beach.

My family. Of course, no trips are complete without getting some candid shots of my family having fun.

Now that summer’s officially over for this year, I will surely look forward to next year’s summer vacation. Thanks for reading!

Cameras used for the photos were Fisheye 2, Lubitel 166+ and Ricoh KR5SII.

Fisheye No. 2 has a 170-degree wide angle view and stunning barrel distortion. Now with a hotshoe and multiple and long exposure capabilities, the world’s greatest compact Fisheye camera is now more amazing than you ever thought possible! Available in different colours and special designs.

My Day in Analogue: Lazy Summer Days at Home

Every summer, my soul screams for a lazy, hot day back at my parents' home, for some good food, relaxation, and catching up with childhood friends. This year is no different, so I went back down to my small hometown in the very northeast of Belgium to enjoy a perfect laid back day doing nothing and everything. And of course, I brought my analogue cameras along to eternalize all of these small but grand moments in life.
