LGS Antwerpen Under Construction - #3

And here’s #3 in the series - LGS Antwerp Under Construction. The rebuilding is progressing as planned and the Grand Opening Party is getting closer. In this post you will read the latest news from Antwerp about among others the Grand Opening Party!

In the last two posts you have read that we are opening a brand new Gallery Store in Antwerp, and that it will be in the hippest street in the Diamond city – the Kammenstraat. We are very proud of that and are excited to open the doors for you. But before we can do that, a lot needs to be done still. Off course rebuilding but also preparing the Grand Opening Party!

The rebuilding of the store is progressing more smoothly than we expected. Our hero Patrick – who also built the store in Amsterdam – has been working in the Kammenstraat for the last two weeks. Tearing down walls, painting wood and installing heaters.

This Sunday, Charly from Lomography HQ will arrive in Antwerp with display materials and the LomoWall to decorate the store. Yes, that’s right, the LomoWall is finished and ready to be attached to the wall! A very exciting job and off course a milestone of our great Lomography Antwerp adventure.

Months ago we asked you to send in your greatest Antwerp photos in the Antwerp LomoWall Rumble. There were over 450 submissions, thank you! We’ve put Dr.Lab to work and with his team, he selected the best photos and created a big work of art. All the panels are packed and ready for Charly.

Now, you must be curious which pictures are used for the LomoWall? This is still a surprise, but these are the Lomographers whose photos were selected:

alexstoica, anteros, arianogoesloco, brommi, fmadera, gepo1303, jasperdrumont, karlijne, letterkoekje, lihooi, lucklik, marjanbuning, mil0ukuh, mizzfonky, mrmaart, nassruggiero, pinkpix, sadmafioso, saintempire, sara81, shie, stienfranssens en wendyraeann.

They have all won 5 Piggies. Congratulations!

The Grand Opening Party

The most important news of this post is of course the Grand Opening Party. The date is set and preparations are being made. Just like all the other Grand Opening Parties of Gallery Stores all over the world, we will prepare this party to perfection. It’s going to be a blast, just like in Amsterdam last year. For those of you who were not present at that party, check the recap of the Grand Opening of the Gallery Store Amsterdam and see for yourself why you have to come the Grand Opening in Antwerp! Ok, enough already. The Grand Opening Party will be on…

Thursday June 21st at 8pm

More information can be found in this official announcement and of course, the Facebook event. Invite all your friends, bring a camera and shout it out loud. This will be the first real Lomography party in Antwerp, and there will be many more…

The European Dream - Selfies from Oranienplatz: Exhibition in Berlin

In more ways than one, Lomography is an art form as much as it is an effective tool to communicate. This is proven in the politically-driven exhibition “Selfies from Oranienplatz," of which the opening event will be taking place on the 16th of October as part of the European Month of Photography in Berlin.
