The Campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany

2

Relaxing is not the first thing that comes to my mind when hearing the word “university” but the campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen is located in such a beautiful area that it’s a pleasure to spend the whole day there.

Not even 10 minutes away from the city center of Stuttgart you can find the campus of the University Stuttgart-Vaihingen. When you’re there, you feel like you’re in the countryside. Although the buildings of the University of Stuttgart are incredibly ugly, the surrounding area is beautiful. The Pfaffenwald, is a huge forest where you can discover many things, with borders directly on the campus. But the campus itself is also very beautiful with many lakes and green spaces. I like to lie down on the grass and listen to music there. Of course, there are many students but you can always find a remote place where you are unnoticed and not disturbed.

I also recommend a hike through the forest to Bärenschlössle which is located about 2km away. Although the castle is not very impressive, the way that leads you there is so beautiful. You pass by many lakes, but unfortunately, swimming is prohibited there.

Another thing that I really like are the playgrounds in the forest. Almost every time when I go jogging or for a walk, I discover a new, uncrowded playground where I let off steam.

The campus of the University of Stuttgart-Vaihingen is made for having a picnic in the summertime. Even barbecues are allowed, and so almost every night there is a huge party. And for those who like it really idyllic: You can watch the sun go down behind the lake. For me this is the perfect compensation to the urban hurly-burly.

Fresh From the Lab: Take Off Your Socks and Shoes - It's Summertime!

Every year, just a few weeks before summer, I dedicate a series of photos to the joy of living outdoors in this good season. One of the most common pleasures is taking one's socks and shoes off to feel the first warm rays of sun on our pale feet, which were prisoners inside shoes throughout the long winter season. So, it's time to take off your socks and shoes and relax barefoot! Where? Of course, on the walls surrounding the beautiful lake! Take a look!

    Changing Seasons: Durham in Autumn

Durham is a beautiful but tiny university city in the north of England famous for its amazing cathedral, which is one of Britain's best loved buildings. When I was studying at the university, I loved to go for crisp, autumnal walks around the cathedral and the river, kicking the leaves and basking in the golden glow of the season. The Lomography Redscale film perfectly captures the beauty of this time of year.

My Analogue Bucket List: Faster Than a Speeding Cannonball

The new year is still young, but it seems as if it'll be over quickly. My organizer is already filled with entries until June. 2015 will probably be worse than 2014 when it comes to having time off so I could take some analogue shots. Anyway, there are some photography-related things that I really want to get done. It is probably best to set some goals if I only have very limited time.

Summer Hot Spots: Blaavand, Denmark (Part One)

When I was a child, I regularly went to Blaavand located at the Danish west coast with my brothers and my parents. However, I didn't anymore when I grew up. But in 2012, we hit the road again. It was my first visit there in about 20 years. I took the chance and packed as many cameras as possible into my luggage. In this article, I'm going to present to you the photos I took with my Nikon F-501 SLR.
