The Saint Lawrence River from the bike lane.
On 2008 Quebec City celebrated its 400th anniversary. To celebrate that important date, the city organized cultural events and arranged some old infrastructure if not creating new ones were there was nothing before. One of the infrastructures of the city that was improved and extended was the bike lane that goes by the Saint Lawrence River.
I personally felt that the City of Quebec, despite being in the shore of such an important river, was giving the back to the Saint Lawrence, not taking advantage of such a privileged location. This is the newest jewell of Quebec city, because with the improvement of the bike lane, the citizens of Quebec now have a nice place were practice sports, have a nice walk and take a picnic, all that by the river. Not only the bike lane was improved, also a pedestrian lane goes by the river and picnic areas are present through all the route. Moreover, these picnic spots have some artistic feel to it. Some are decorated with fountains, another ones present artistic structures… and at the end of the lane there is a wooden tower that makes a nice spot to have a panoramic view of the river and the bridges of Quebec.
For this location I used a Kodak BW400CN that was cross-processed in e6, giving some weird green color to the location. I also loaded a elitechrome 100, but I completely forgot to change the iso rating in the LC-A from 400 to 100 (ups!) so I had to push-developed the film. Because of this, the film has an air a bit chemical, I think I over-cooked it a bit… Finally, a Konica Centuria 200 also made it into the LC-A, rated at iso 400.
So pick up your skate, roller-skate, bike, running shoes or just your sandals to enjoy a nice walk by the Saint Lawrence River. And do not forget your favorite camera, there are plenty of opportunities to make some nice photos!
