See the World Wide With LC-Wide

4

Always wanted to take group photos, landscaped, and big buildings, but you have to move very far back to capture the whole subject? Or sometimes, you still can't get the whole subject even if you did so by moving far back? Wouldn't it be cool if you can have a super wide angle camera to shoot with? Yes, La Sardina is wide but it is not really wide (not trying to judge La Sardina) enough sometimes. Thanks to Lomography, there is the Lomo LC-Wide!

LC-Wide is a super wide angle camera, 17mm! It’s so wide that you can take up to 5 persons, including yourself if you are taking a self-shot group photo! Still thinking how wide this camera is? Let me show you guys some photos before I start to review on it!

Apart from the wide angle lens, there are two other features about LC-Wide. Firstly, it has a easy to use zone focusing setting and secondly, it comes with three different formats for shooting!

Zone Focusing: It is so much easier than the LC-A because there is only two to choose from which is 0.4m – 0.9m or 0.9m – Infinity. Yes, it’s just so simple to focus with this camera, anything that you can reach with your hand, it will be 0.4m – 0.9m and if not, it will be 0.9m – Infinity. In addition, with the first setting of 0.4m – 0.9m, this means that the closest you can shoot is 0.4m (40cm)! A big WOW to LC-Wide!

Three Different Formats: The formats are the usual 35mm standard format, 120mm Square format (Medium Format) and Half Frame format. Three formats in a camera! It is done so by a switch at the bottom of the camera for 35mm standard format and 120mm Square format (Medium Format). Half Frame is done so by slotting in a Half Frame piece onto the inner part of the camera. A bigger WOW to the LC-Wide!

Some people might be thinking that it looks so similar to the LC-A (ISO1600, MX capability, body design and etc) and why does it cost so much more than the LC-A? It is more expensive but it has a 17mm Wide Angle lens on such a small camera body! So I don’t think it is really expensive. Three different formats in a camera, its like having a Golden half, a Holga and a 35mm camera in a camera! What’s more the images produced by this camera are sharp images!

What do you guys think about Lomo LC-Wide, over-priced or worth the money?

The Lomo LC-Wide boasts the newly-developed 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens. This 35mm camera wonder is the perfect companion for your photo expeditions. It produces eye-catching splashes of colour with astonishing saturation and contrasts with the added versatility of 3 different formats. Open up to a new photographic experience with the LC-Wide, available in our Shop.

Useful Guidelines on Shooting with Ultra Wide Lenses

Wide-angle lens are further divided into sub-classifications: Wide, ultra-wide and ultra-ultra-wide. Lenses are considered ultra-wide if they have focal lengths from 17 to 21 mm, and ultra-ultra-wide if from 12 to 16mm. The New Russar+ is a 20mm lens; hence it falls under the ultra-wide classification. Tinker on the fly: A color filter made from spoiled film

Probably each one of you has been annoyed with failed film. This is particularly annoying when you get the developed film back from the lab, but you get blanks because the film was not exposed. It's either the film transport didn't work, or you have not taken the lens cap off, etc. Read on and I'll show you an alternative to just throwing away the film: Simply use it as a color filter for your camera, with the La Sardina for example.
