LC-Wide: The Ultra-Wide and Wonderfully Fun Camera

When LC-Wide was released last year, I was so excited! After seeing the galleries in LC-Wide's Microsite, I immediately fell in love with it, then I said to myself, "I must have that camera one day!" Now, I'm so grateful to have the LC-Wide. I don't know how many rolls I've spent using this camera but one thing is for sure: I'm totally happy and having fun with the LC-Wide. I'm sure everybody will have the same feeling about it. Now, let me tell you what this ultra-wide and wonderfully fun camera is all about! Let's go wide!

Meet the ultra-wide and wonderfully fun camera: The LC-Wide!

I love this camera so much but what made me keep falling in love all over again with this little beauty?
Now it’s time to reveal my secrets to all LC-Wide Lovers out there!

1. The closest distance focus is 0.4m.

Go close! I think you all already aware of this function. Yeah, this is the best feature of the LC-Wide in my opinion. Get closer, and closer, and closer to the object until LC-Wide hits the object. Just kidding! Get close is the key!

2. The 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens.

This Minigon lens is the bomb! Stunning images, gorgeous vignettes and vivid colors! When you use the 0.4m focusing it will give you that sharp solid well focus lomograph. Perfect for shooting cats! Yes, cats!

3. Super Self-Portraits

Who loves self-portraits? If I’m a professor and I have lomographers in front of me, I think they will all raise their hands and say, “Me! Me! Me!” Yes, taking self-portraits is a must when you already have the LC-Wide in your hand. Click! Smile! Be happy!

4. Endless Panoramas

Set the camera to HF on the bottom of the camera and set the camera to Half Frame mode. Shoot from left to right. And Click! Click! Click! until you satisfied! The longer, the better I must say. Endless Panorama for the win!

5. Great for Film Swap

Set the camera to ISO 200 if you using ISO 100 film so you get the balance when you receive the result and you won’t get overexposed. Overexposure is one risk you face when doing film swaps but the important thing is shoot happily and pass the film to your partner. Let the universe help with the film swap! Tadaaaah!

6. Perfect analogue buddy For travelling

The last time I went travelling was when I went to India. Since I’m travelling alone, I have nobody to shoot at me. Lucky me, I have the perfect buddy for travelling. Its no other than LC-Wide! You can check the photos below, it shows how much I love travelling and LC-Wide is my partner in crime. Just put the camera in your hand and let the LC-Wide do the job. Thanks buddy!

7. Easy focus

Set the focus 0.4m-0.9 for close objects and set the focus 0.9m – infinity for landscapes. This easy focus made me worry-less about setting the focus. So no more blur using LC-Wide but just don’t forget to set the focus up for close focusing and down for that sharp landscape. How about that for a compact camera?

8. The Wide Diary Project

The Wide Diary project is a monthly album which captures all my daily activity, just like a diary. I’m so inspired by LC-A Diary competition on 2009. It’s been 5 months since I started it, and there are 7 months to go until 2013. The Wide Diary is on and you can all check them on my LomoHome. I love doing this diary.

9. Classic Wide Self-Portraits Project

As you know if you check my LomoHome, you will see many of my self-portraits. Of course, I love self-portraits! But the Classic Wide Self-Portraits is like my own mirror. I just take the LC-Wide and shoot in the same position. Bad hair day, sleepy faces, after quick shower faces, new hair or grown mustache, and all that stuff are on this Classic Wide Self Portraits project. This project is for documenting my everyday face. Silly me for doing this but it’s fun you know. All LC-Wide Lovers should do this! It’s totally fun!

So these are my words for the LC-Wide and I’m having so much fun whenever I shoot with this compact camera. This camera is a must-have for hardcore lomographers out there…oops you all already know that, right? Lomo on!

Lomography Fisheye No.2: Seven Years of Wonder

Exactly seven years ago, I bought this camera from Indonesia's local Lomography community. I remember having some savings in my bank account and just spending it all on this camera. At that time, I browsed the microsite for the Lomography Fisheye No.2 and immediately fell in love with it! Coincidentally, my friend who introduced me to Lomography just bought this same camera for his birthday. My life has changed ever since I had the Fisheye, my first lomographic camera.

The Magic Yet To Come: Part 3

“Let me tell you about my life turning blue”. Those were the first words the guy on the bench said as he sat down beside me whilst I was eating my lunch. Usually, I prefer to eat alone but there was something about this opening sentence which really intrigued me; so I told him “Sure buddy, go ahead. Tell me about your life in blue”.

Pushing Boundaries: So I Heard You Like Multiple Exposures

My name is Amber Valentine and I have a confession to make: I’m not really a photographer. I have a website full of photographs, a bookshelf full of cameras, film waiting to be developed, and a wall full of framed pictures I’ve taken. Even so, I don’t really consider myself a photographer per se. I think that Lomography is more about the experimentation and the fun of film than it is about the photography, and that experimentation is part of the reason I have embraced Lomography so.

The Magic Yet To Come: Part 2

I’d only heard rumors of the Magic Tree. I had no idea if they were true and, honestly, I’m still half disbelieving of it despite the story I’m about to tell you. If you have faith in what I say, I’m grateful. If you don’t, I bear no ill will towards you. But either way, please shout out in the comments what secrets or sophistries you think I found through its twisting branches.

My Day in Analogue: Living Between Three Cities - Bandung, Bogor, and Jakarta

For the past three months, I've been living alternately between three cities: Bandung, Bogor, and Jakarta. I'm originally from Bandung. I now work in Bogor, sometimes in Jakarta. I could be in Bogor on a Friday, Bandung on a Saturday, and Jakarta on a Monday. Shuttling between these three cities, I don't forget to document what I see and experience with my LC-Wide.

    Experiencing the Rainforest Adventure Experience

When I was a kid, one of my greatest joys was to go to the park. I especially loved playgrounds. It didn't matter how may other children there were, as long as I could have my turn to go on the slide and and sit on the swing. These days, enjoying one's childhood has become so different. Technology has stolen the interest of children in more physically demanding yet fun activities.
