On Saturday May 12th, the Lomography Gallery Store Gramercy in NYC lead a walking tour to the lovely Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Last Saturday was the perfect day to escape the humdrum drag of the city and get back in touch with nature. It was warm and bright out all day, a welcome break from the notoriously gloomy weather we’ve been experiencing in NYC the past few weeks.
What: May Flowers Walking Tour

Technique: Nature Photography and Double Exposure
Four sun-loving ladies joined staff member Nikki to explore the Brooklyn Botanical Garden on our May Flowers Walking Tour! The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is located near many other wonderful destinations, such as the Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park. Founded in 1910, the BBG is expansive and holds several gardens. The different sections of the Garden include a vast number of plant collections, including a Cherry-Tree Esplanade, a rose garden, and a Japanese nature-themed hill and pond garden. Amongst these gardens there are also fields of different flowers and trees, an art gallery, a green-house, a nature museum and much more.
We were all very excited at the prospect of frolicking in sun-drenched flowers all day, and seized the opportunity to play around with Lomography chrome films. I decided to try out some Lomography Tungsten film and shot both the LC-A and the LC-W. I’m very, very happy with the results. Tungsten film, when cross-processed, has a pastel palette that added a touch of magic to the shots. The mix of the colors and the vignette of the LC-A & LC-W created a very dreamy look- perfectly capturing the feeling of the gardens.
Decked out in summer fashions, we ventured through the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens’ endless bushels of flora, taking multiple exposures of each other and snapping some psychedelic shots. There were also some interesting nature-based installations of twisted tree branches at the center of the gardens. What a delightful day we had!
